First off I wanna say kudos to the man who oil sprayed your vehicle, he did an awesome job. Ive been to many places over the years, I’d say 7 or 8 different shops (Rust check, Krown, Walmart, private local shops with their own concoctions of coatings - Ive also personally sprayed fluid film, Corroision free, Rust check and krown myself at home - most of them both in aerosol and from a cheap undercoating gun...

I would not expect any old Canadian Tire to have an employee that cares like he does. Very nice to see!!!

To me Corrosion’s Free’s biggest downfall is their dealer network - while their product is praised; their dealers are hit and miss from my experience. Where a place like Krown, the franchise owner is almost always on site to educate you and help with any questions or concerns you may have, you can go to many locations and get a proper coating, . I inspect my applications everytime and i’ve only once had to complain at krown to spray the top of my gas tank more throughly. At walmart I actually took the gun out of the guys hand and finished (probably why walmart doesn’t do automotive stuff anymore lol) I actually prefer krown drills some access holes to properly coat my vehicle, so they soak the inside of the windshield frame, rockers etc etc.

After 20 years of living in ontario’s salty, humid climate where our winters fluctuate above and below freezing, constantly, if your car isn’t oiled, it’s rotting away. I have after all these years decided I prefer Krown; to me it isn’t “all about” what the military or whoever claims is the best product for inhibiting rust. The product needs to dry and look good, krown dries to a mat black and the product needs to drip for a few days, if it doesn’t drip then how are your panel drains not being clogged!

I work on my own rides exclusively, other then tires/alignments and sometimes oil undercoating I do all my own work. Krown is also my choice because repairs go easy in most cases, things actually comes apart. Also after the repair, I am not covered in black grease from my eyeballs to my asshole.

Rust Cure doesn’t seem to stand up well under the vehicle, after I coated mine, it was dry underneath 4 months later, looked like i’d never sprayed it, especially in the wheel wells, Krown is visibly working for 12 to 14 months even in areas that get pressure washed.

Rust check makes good products as well, coat and protect has its place too, but it attracts dust like crazy and very much like corrosion free it doesn’t seem to dry like Krown.

I honestly feel like depending on your vehicle even ashphault based coatings car have their place and I would never used them al over underneath in this area, but if you have an old ride with meta inner fenders it can help prevent rock chips or use a rubberized rocker gaurd. However you spray that kinda stuff all over underneath it just traps moisture and makes your vehicle rot even worse.

While paint coatings have improved Rust still costs many people a great deal of money - I believe in our climate krown is well worth getting done. If corrosion free had a real dealer network that educated the public on proper procedures, best times to apply the product and when to wash your vehicles etc, I may consider giving the product another shot. However I can not only get krown applied for much less money, I also can buy the product and spray it on myself for less money.

MEH 😑 i will stick with krown - since 1986, Rust cure - since 1995

How did your vehicle hold up? and how often did you re-apply it the last 9 years?

I went to Canadian tire for rust proofing, after watching your video. :) Two months later, when I went there for oil change, they told me that "some idiot has sprayed rust proofing oil on your air filter". I asked them to check the service history of my vehicle, but then they refused to accept that it was done by them.

Been to CTC in Lindsay, Ontario 3 or 4 times for their best rustproofing package. Rocker panels still rotted off. When replacing them, I noticed no rustproofing product anywhere inside them except 1 big glob inside 1 of the holes. It's not so much the product being sprayed but the guy who is spraying it and if they spray it where they should.

Thanks for posting this. I'm in the Dartmouth area and I'm considering getting Corrosion Free on our 2016 Caravan we just bought. But I have read that it's a mixed bag when it comes to Canadian Tire with application. Some are good, some are bad.

I was driving down the 103 and an outboard motor fell off the truck in front of us, shattered to pieces all over the road and blew out the tire on my friends Caravan (as well as dozens of people behind us). The Canadian Tire in Bridgewater really helped us out, they were they were the closest one

good thing they allowed you to see/check your vehicle after servicing and the guy looks accommodating. unfortunately, I went to a Canadian tire at Lawrence Square Toronto near Allen road for the same service and I was disappointed. I guess it depends on who's doing it.

This is what separates the cars I buy and ones that are turned back into a cube and are melted down into a kia. I wish it was a Toyota being coated but heck at least he is doing what he car to keep his ride safe and road worthy

Good job, but the quality of the job lies with the fellow who does it. I just bought a Ford Edge from Vancouver and an looking to get it rustproofed, I am near Cornwall, Ontario, any ideas or recommendations ?

My Ford Ecosport 2018 had undercoating performed at the CT shop in Scarborough (McCowan/Shephard) on 2020-09-30. I took it back to dealer for examination as the engine light turned on a couple weeks later. Ford dealer found the spray damaged the fuel tank pressure sensor and blocked valve, and tube assembly contaminated with rustproofing. The $30 spray caused me $600 for repairs. The CT shop manager passed the buck to the provider of the chemical. He sent the information to the chemical provider but since they have not replied him, he could not do ANYTHING. Be warned if you bring your car to CT for rustproofing!

How long did you wait after getting this done to do car wash again? And did you wash/spray your undercarriage?

Don't get your car undercoated at Crappy Tire! Trust me you don't want them to touch your car! I worked for them for 15 years, they don't know what they are doing!

The coating dries up after or it will be wet all the time?
