6. Don't inflate the catheter early, only do when it reaches till the end. Otherwise it may cause urethral damage

#3 happened to me about 16 years ago. The nurse who inserted the catheter either hated me, hated her job or a combination of both because no numbing gel OR lube was used. Extremely painful. About a year ago, I had another catheter and this time, the nurse injected lidocaine and waited a few minutes. Much more pleasant experience than the nurse from hell all those years ago.
