This was a great video. Finally an honest view on buying from Ali express and almost everything you spoke about is true. Most SA youtubers pretend like it awesome and they are making millions from it. I was initially breaking my head trying to see how to get products from China as I thought it was the way to go but it's a stressfull process and mostly not cost efficient for South africans. I have now shifted my strategy to sourcing products locally or even making it my myself. Can you do a video on selling a product through other channels as well like Takealot or Facebook stores? and what the disadvantages or advantages are? Thanks you for your videos, I now regard you as a virtual mentor 😊

1. Dont create your own site sell on marketplace's and get free traffic
2. Sell items with with good reviews if you're worried about quality
3. Use shipping agents that will source your aliexpress items and ship via courier within 2 weeks or less
4. Foreign text on packages dont matter customers dont care
5. Customers are irrational they'll pay you R1000 for an item they can get on take alot for R200

You can do all the research you want but it doesn't beat real life experience

Dropshipping works if you understand the market you'll sell items for 3x the price easily

Tx for an honest opinion/review. I bought a shopify store at a discount price and met with these disillusioning factors mentioned. Trendy gadgets from china sold in usd, but i dont have the budget to drive social media advertising campaigns targeted at usa buyers.
So, i decided to get local manufacturers providing high quality excellent products and sell to SA buyers. Now, to get them as collaboraters...

Thanks for the video Jaco. Incredible good ! Thanks for your honest opinions ! I have been selling on Takealot for 9 year's full time and it's not easy at all. People think let source a product in China and sell it online, get rich etc... ( I am not saying it's not possible but it's HARD work ) Specially if you want to import into SA and sell online.

Hi there Jaco! I am wanting to start my own online ecommerce store and don't want customers to wait for their products so long... I would love suppliers in South Africa that sell ladies, men and kids fashion, bedding and also homeware. That is what I am looking at. I love the products on Aliexpress but shipping is just too costly and waiting period too... Please advise

Great and valuable information! Thank you for saying it like it is. More people need to understand the challenges associated with Dropshipping in RSA. It all sounds wonderful, but the fact of the matter is that it will end up costing a lot of money and you'll always struggle to deliver good quality and fast customer service. So, I don't see it being a long-term lucrative gig unless you find a way to work directly with suppliers or even make use of local suppliers and sell cool local products.
