The moment Tadano started writing on the blackboard to Komi showed two things:
1) Tadano wanting to reach out to Komi and
2) Komi finally finding someone willing to talk to her at her level.
Sometimes, it just takes the simplest of methods to reach out to someone. But, we've become too preoccupied with life to be willing to do that.

without a single word, this song fully conveys Komi's wish of making 100 friends and hits an amazing high the further she and Tadano write. in other words, the OST represents Komi: in the beginning, she was alone and quiet and becomes more hopeful once Tadano becomes her first friend

I hope they use this theme again when Tadano will confess to Komi-San.

I never watch anime. I decided to try this one and it blew me away.

This stands out so easily as one of the best pieces of music from the first season; however, I prefer to say it is the pinnacle of what the first episode is all about.

It is Komi finally not just meeting someone new, but befriending them and making her first friend in her life.

It is also the first piece of music I found, but never knew the name to; before knowing its title of, "To My First Friend", I had personally titled this track, "Chalkboard Sakura".

Though fleeting in its appearance, Tadano and Komi's first ever conversation were the words written and erased on that school chalkboard, sharing the same fleeting beauty that the sakura petals have, yet leave a lifelong memory of that gorgeous appearance.

I will respect the true title, but I shall forever know this track as, "Chalkboard Sakura".

As someone who dealt with extreme social anxiety in the past, this show hits hard for me. This scene was so beautiful. It reminded me of when I made my first friends in high school after years of being alone during the COVID lockdown. That part of my life may be well over now but the pain always flairs up every now and again, and in those moments I can count on this show to bring me comfort.

I cannot overstate how much love I have for this OST — and for that specific scene in particular.

Dealing with someone who has issues with communication is never easy, as even something as simple as a conversation becomes tremendously complicated.
Sometimes people shut down before even reaching a point where they would be capable of airing out the problem.
And hurt gets to run so deep sometimes, it requires truly divine patience to be able to even open up a proper line of communication.

*Malice of others breaks us internally so much, we cannot even look the issue in the eyes — it gets this scary.
... But without it, we cannot move on. We cannot let go.*

Please — if you ever come to know someone who never talks about their issues, on the account of the amount of hurt they come to suffer in their life:
