Deezer VS Spotify (Honest Review)

A quick background of each app:
Spotify was founded in 2008 in Stockholm, Sweden and has since grown to around 200 million monthly active users, with 83 million of them being paid subscribers. Their app is available in more than 78 countries, and includes between 35 and 40 million tracks, although this number is hard to track..
Deezer was founded one year earlier, in 2007, in Paris, France and has since only grown to approximately 14 million monthly active users. With support in 108 countries, and 50 million songs in their library, Deezer is a major competitor to Spotify. So which is actually better for you? In this video, I will dig deeper to find out which app is the better app based on four major categories.

Deezer:
Lyrics for songs are available (if icon is visible next to song)
Deezer labs (for me, this was beta trials for sleep timer and touch previews)
In-app apps for finding more music
Limited to 3 devices signed in at once, and only one playing at a time. Deezer does not use other devices as remote controls like Spotify does
Cannot add a song to next when you are in FLOW, unless you leave it
Add songs to the top or bottom of the music queue
Web player is very very different - has “hear this” section which I would like to see in the app
Notifications
Song catcher - like shazam but in the Deezer app
Deezer desktop app for Windows was rated very poorly with many 1 star reviews saying it was very sloppy - I tried this and I agree that it seems to be a buggy application. The app didn't even let me sign in
Channels on mobile app are configured differently on Deezer vs Spotify. On Deezer, any grouping of content is a channel (i.e. podcasts, popular music, charts, mixes, exclusives, etc.)

Follow and be followed sort of like FB

Spotify:
More social users (i.e. many more of my friends use Spotify and so it is easier to share music with more friends)

On desktop, you can see what friends are playing in real time
Follow each other by scanning codes
Easier to follow artist profiles and connect with them (i.e. see upcoming concerts, see their playlists, etc.) - also easier to learn about your artists

Deezer:
Automatically comes with 15 days of Deezer premium, and then you can subscribe with an extra 30 days of premium
After that, it is usually $10/mo for individual. Spotify and Deezer both cost approximately the same, although initial promotions may vary from time to time.
No discover cards

Spotify:
Only allows shuffle play in free, ad-supported version (although you can still make playlists and follow people, etc. - you just cannot choose individual songs on the mobile app)
Both spotify and Deezer have family plans as well

Been using Spotify, then tried YouTube music which I loved for obscure hard to find music. I then went to Deezer because I could easily add the obscure songs I downloaded to their server to play anywhere (doesn't have to be local file). Music quality is great, I like the lyric integration as well as the instagram story features. Discovery/flow algorithms are both good. Overall, Deezer is a win.

Deezer because unlike Spotify, without paying you can listen to the music YOU choose, Spotify is random. Sure they both have ads if you don't pay, but I still prefer deezer also because for premium, you can have a trial without cc information, just with a click you are in trial

The real question is.. when will Spotify step up to the plate, and offer HI-FI quality sound like tidal? Spotify is winning in popularity. But, if they stepped up there audio quality, then it’s game over for the competition. I have been listening to deezer as of late, due to their HI-FI material on there.

Team deezer Team deezer has it when it comes to the fitbit, spotify is just a remote app for the phone with deezer I can store music locally on the watch and no phone needed! Yay!

I switched from Spotify to Deezer just almost like 2 weeks ago and to be honest it's a lot easier to use and the audio is great I also like the design better. I just cancelled my Spotify subscription it was great at first but when it kept updating it just kept freezing and took forever to load a artist's page and albums. I'm glad I made the switch. I love Deezer and YouTube Music.

One thing you have missed is the actual genres section in Deezer. Inside those genres there are weekly tailored playlists with both Deezer administrators, or other curators. Quite useful for discovering quality music. In addition there also is new release lists for genres as well. Give those a try !

I’m searching for a service that does “Remove track from playlist” from the “current playing” view. Apparently this isn’t common for whatever reason I can’t wrap my head around? Thats how I always listened to music and I CAN’T use a library as that will mix all genres together

the new deezer desktop application they released has a lot of bug fixes and is far fluid and smoother now! That was a really big one up that brought me back to deezer.
