The fully thrombectomy-capable Stroke Center at Mount Sinai Queens is the first of its kind in the United States. Custom-designed with the dual modalities of biplane angiography combined with CT, the Stroke Center allows a stroke patient to be taken directly from the stretcher of the ambulance to have their diagnostic CT and the thrombectomy procedure to occur in the same room, on the same table.

Providing the fastest and most efficient treatment for people experiencing the most devastating form of stroke - large vessel occlusion (LVO) strokes, Mount Sinai Queens proves the best imaging, diagnostic ability and treatment options in one location, a short distance from the emergency department dramatically cut “door to needle” time (the time from arrival at the hospital to the beginning of clot removal), from the national target of 90 minutes to less than 45 minutes.

Mount Sinai Queens has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Associations’ Heart-Check mark for Advanced Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center (TSC) Certification.
