Still in shock... One of my childhood heroes... Cold Sweat, Baby Please don't goo, The holy war, Whitesnake Album.... I saw him live in Paradiso, Amsterdam, one of the best concerts I ever went to.

One of the best guitarists in rock history. Firmly carved into the ethereal stone of my imaginary musical Mount Rushmore. He was never truly given his due. I'm saddened to see him leave our mortal plane.
RIP John Sykes. You will not be forgotten.

Guitarists all over the world are sad.
He was a real legendary guitarist.
The sound he played is eternal.
RIP JOHN

I can feel your belief from your score.

The sheer swagger and coolness while being an absolute killer on the Axe is totally missing these days.

I don’t know what’s more amazing, the playing of that solo or the tabbing of that solo. Bravo! Rest in peace John.

I still can’t believe it when I saw a picture and the dates on his website. I was like no way….hes too young. I didn’t know he had cancer. So sad to see this today. One of the best guitarists and song writers. He was such a great vocalist as well. Really a crappy day for the guitarists and musicians in general. RIP JS

Still can't believe this happened. I'm rarely moved by the passing of someone at my age, but this one hit me. Such an underrated talent. His rhythm tone on the Whitesnake album is still THE tone of the 80's only matched by Reign in Blood & Master of Puppets in its perfection. RIP John, we will remember.

This man was a guitar icon, his work in W.S. was of course legendary and that was merely the tip of the iceburg. R.I.P John Sykes.

The old classic lead guitar playing style, no little finger needed, effortless guitar player and vocalist. Respect for giving him a shout out Levi.
R.I.P. John Sykes. Time to put on some Thin Lizzy. 🎼🎸😎

John's guitar playing changed my life.
It is truly the tone of a beautiful Les Paul with a soul.
Please come back in the next life with the sound of this beautiful Les Paul.
R.I.P.John Sykes.

I was there! First Rock In Rio and 14 years old kid. Whitesnake played 2 Nights, Jan 11th and 19th and Sykes was in Fire

He was why I got myself a black Lester Custom, and I can vividly remember the first time I saw him on the TV with Thin Lizzy. He was head and shoulders above anyone else at the time,
