In this video, I show you an effective editing technique to help correct the timing of individual guitar or vocal notes on Audio Recorder tracks.

Covered in this video:
- Identifying an out of time note
- Splitting the note out
- Moving to a new position
- Adding additional sounds to remove the "gap"

Thanks for this tip! Not as easy a technique as warping in Ableton Live or other elastic audio methods... but just as effective.

Hi Pete! Thanks again this was helpful. First, I’d like to say when I was searching around looking for info on GarageBand, I quickly realized that there wasn’t much. Then I found your channel and voila! And, to address a point previously made in the comments, agreed there are other more sophisticated recording and mixing programs that address these issues. Ironically, I recently had this discussion with by niece who has an audio engineering degree. I was surprised to find out she uses GarageBand for some of her own singing projects because of its simplicity and ease of use. Rock on my friend from down under. Not sure what time it is there (1:00am here in NY) but take the rest of the day off and go surfing or something.

Thanks for that tip. I usually use song sections to record which means, for me, often my first strum on my acoustic guitar is often louder than it should be for the song. Maybe now I can easily and quickly adjust that initial strum and have it fit better in the mix. Thanks!

Hey Pete a big thanks for this! It would be really dope if could show the masses how to do this on Cubasis 3(iPad/iPhone) especially for guitar/bass recording. Thanks so much! #subscribed

i just found another cool trick, you can combine the fx track with one or more of your other tracks, turning it into an audio file, and then delete the effect on the effect track, that way only effecting the instrument you combined it with, and not all the other tracks :) it’s great for more expression on for example a distorted guitar track :)

So I tried making a loop with the electronic drums and there’s a small space between each part of the loop that makes sound delayed and off what do I do?

Hello, thanks for these great videos! I'm having an issue where if I grab the center Flex marker and drag that marker to the right or left, instead of stretching the audio on either side, it splits the track if you try to stretch it longer than it's original length. It leaves a gap of no audio and a resulting click sound. To clarify, it's effectively splitting the track and leaving a gap before/after the center flex marker as it's unable to stretch a section beyond it's original length. Please help! thanks

i hope future updates brings more features for more precise editing to garageband :) it’s still a bit too fiddly for my liking :)

Maybe a higher tempo? Other than that this is fire!

This helped me a lot. Now unfortunately I have a lot of this to do. If it was only as easy as shifting a midi note. Haha

Garageband is good for doing a lot of things, but not to record several guitars. Why torture yourself with her limitations and not use a program like Auria Pro (Audio warping), CUbasis, etc. that recognizes transients?
