NYC 2021 Debate Program Informational Meeting

The NYC Campaign Finance Board held an information meeting to kickoff the NYC 2021 Debate Program on Thursday, October 22, 2020. The CFB seeks sponsors to produce live debates for the primary and general elections for mayor, public advocate, and comptroller. Past sponsors include broadcast and other media outlets, academic institutions, civic organizations, and technology firms. The informational session is an opportunity for potential sponsors to learn about the requirements of the program, ask questions, and connect with other potential applicants.

New York City's charter-mandated debate program is conducted under the umbrella of the CFB's nonpartisan voter engagement initiative, NYC Votes. The program ensures that all citywide candidates participating in the public matching funds program are required to debate if they meet the nonpartisan, objective criteria. The 2021 primary elections will be the first citywide elections conducted under ranked choice voting.
