How to Make A Terrarium | How to Make A Closed Terrarium for Free!

Today we decided to make DIY closed terrariums for some of our humidity loving plants! Ferns, calathea, & several other tropical houseplants really prefer a super humid environment to thrive so a closed terrarium is a great option if you still want to keep those plants in your indoor plant collection! Making terrariums for free is easy to do & you can just use supplied you already have around the house.

UPDATE: I found out I was pregnant around when I hit 20k subs so I won’t be doing the fish tank until after the baby gets here!
I hope you understand & I am still so excited to do the tank, but I definitely feel it’s best to wait as of now.

I have lots of terrariums. I put springtails in mine to help with any mold issues. I also have an aquarium with lots of real plants in it. Make sure you do your research with the nitrogen cycle before setting up an aquarium, if you're going to put fish in it. They need a filter, unless you do the Walstad method, but that requires research too.

Thrift stores, dollar stores, and flea markets are stellar places to find terrariums and propagation jars!

I've put different colors of fittonia in terrariums:and they seem to love the humidity. They just thrive in there. Yours turned out so cute. I love that you put quartz in there.

I have a tiny moss terrarium I made from scraping some moss from my backyard, adding gravel and soil underneath, and a couple pieces of bark/seashells to the top 😊 I misted it at the beginning and I just rotate it once in a while when the moss leans towards my window! I didn't even know moss could actually grow tall but it's like 1-2 inches talk and all wavy from leaning towards the sun/being turned! It looks so cool i want to build a big fairy garden one 😍
