Another suggestion for the volume pedal placement is to place the volume pedal later in the chain. By placing the volume pedal first it controls gain and volume, thus as the volume pedal reaches peak so to does the gain. By placing the volume pedal later, you still have full volume control but can maintain full gain to the other pedals. In this way, effects such as distortion remain consistent throughout volume range.

You mentioned that you like the volume pedal goes at the beginning of the pedal chain. I like putting mine after the distortion/OD/fuzz but before any effects like phase, flanger, chorus, reverb or delay. I like driving the grit pedals with my guitar on full volume, then vary that volume into the amp.

But I've also been thinking about putting it in the effects loop. That way I can drive the grit pedals and the preamp then vary the level going into the power amp section. Depending on your tone preferences, that might be a good way to get preamp breakup at bedroom volume levels.

Aside from guitar volume, what should your amp volume be set at to use this pedal ? Especially for bedroom playing ?

That is no gear review. You didnt say almost anything about technical specs of this pedal. Not a single word about smoothness of pedal moving or how its tension can be adjusted, or how the pedal can work as expression pedal. And how about internal trimpot and 2 dipswitches?

Give that pedal about a month and it will break down on you. You continuously have to take the bottom off and readjust the screws inside to keep it from flopping around. The easy access adjustment in the back doesn't do anything one it wears in a little. I eventually trashed mine after a couple months of aggravation

I’m experimenting with a volume pedal at the beginning of my effects loop. I can keep my preamp crunch at a bedroom friendly volume and also be able to keep trails from my delay pedal that is after my volume pedal.

I use it after modulation pedals and that ones after overdrives and keeps the tails of delay and reverb

I feel like a volume pedal would sound better with a single coil pick up, but that is just my opinion
