Never Have I Ever is a new coming-of-age comedy about the complicated life of a modern-day first-generation Indian American teenage girl. The series stars newcomer Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Devi, an overachieving high school sophomore who has a short fuse that gets her into difficult situations. Never Have I Ever is created by executive producer Mindy Kaling, with Lang Fisher serving as executive producer, showrunner and writer. The Universal Television project is also executive produced by 3 Arts Entertainment's Howard Klein, David Miner, and Tristram Shapeero.

My BFF sometimes struggles with her Indian-American identity and it makes me so happy that a non-stereotypical Western representation is finally here. I love her very much and I'm tired of us watching TV shows together with only people that look like me and none like her. Bravo Mindy Kaling and Netflix!

This is why representation is important. I see all these comments of people, specifically girls, saying how ecstatic they are that they finally get to see themselves in a way that relates to them. Honestly, if I was Indian or even specifically Tamil There would a big smile on my face. As a black girl, I would also be happy. Also this is big for Asian representation ❤️
