I remember this day very well. I vividly remember waking up that morning and walking outside onto the deck and feeling the warm air on my skin followed by several intense and cold breezes. I looked at the sky and thought "Today is going to be bad."

My sister was living in the Georgetown Apartment complex at that time. Her apartment was on the 3rd floor, the top floor, of the building that was damaged the most by this tornado. She had gotten home from working an early shift and decided to take a nap because of how overworked she had been. About a minute before the tornado impacted the building her roommates boyfriend managed to break down her door after repeated attempts to wake her, and drag her out of bed into the hallway and lay on top of her to cover her. The entire 3rd floor of the apartment complex was lifted off of the rest of the building, swung around and slammed into the ground about half a football field's length away. In the aftermath when they were clamoring to escape the rubble they caught a glimpse into her room, and the entirety of the roof had caved and collapsed right on top of her bed. My sister would not be alive today if it weren't for him.

I'll never forget how she looked when she arrived where I was living, covered in dirt, cuts, bruises, tears and fiberglass insulation. I'll never forget the tone of her voice when she burst open the door and yelled for our dad. I'll never forget witnessing the aftermath of this catastrophe driving through Washington the next day.
And I'll never forget the sinking feeling in my gut that autumn morning.

Thank you for covering this tornado, and thank you anyone who reads this.

That mapped path edited to show before & after effects in real time is extremely impressive! Well done sir!
Such destruction... tornadoes are truly a marvel.

At this 4:28 time stamp. The two homes that were destroyed that were acrossthe street from steve were both of my best friends. The friend that lived across from steve was able to get her and her siblings down stairs in time but unfortunately my friend that lived next door had no time to react and her and her step dad were picked up and thrown across the street. This was the worst day of my life i think. It was so terrifying

God, FEMA denying any help on basis of population is disgusting. I can't remember a time where FEMA has actually helped disaster victims. They didn't help people in my area after hurricanes, and they dont want to help people after tornadoes either. It makes me sad, but thankfully local communities have far more compassion than companies.

Amazing video, although emotional for me. That's my dad at the 12:43 mark. He lost his house in this tornado, but has rebuilt. I'll never forget that day. Thank you for such a well-done, exceptional job.

My house got hit by this tornado, although not as bad as some others. I remember vividly looking at the end of our cul de sac and seeing the tornado peer over our neighbors house. Me, my mom, and my brother were already in my basement but my dad was working on a project in our garage. My mom sent me up to get him because we hadn’t known the tornado was so close to us yet. As soon as I got upstairs I looked out the window and saw it I forgot whatever I was doing and just looked in awe. Luckily my dad had been listening to the radio and heard to take cover. He came and rushed me into the basement with the rest of the family. My dad was the only one that wore shoes so we had to wait in the basement while he walked through the glass and debris upstairs to get our shoes. My dad was into antique tractors so luckily we had an old mini bulldozer that we could hitch a ride on out to the road where our grandparents waited in their car. My mom stepped on a nail on her way over to the road behind our house and had to go to the hospital. Such a crazy day. That day marks the start of a new period of my life, but I never knew it was such a devastating and powerful tornado. Great video! I’m glad you highlighted how much the community came together to help each other out afterward.

Thank you so much for covering this tornado. I was nearly killed by that monster and trust me, I almost started crying when all the memories came back. You are doing a great service to thousands of people by covering events like these. Thanks, and keep up the good work!

At 9:24 if you look very closely on the right side of the tornado, you could see an ominous face. That’s terrifying.

I watch a lot of tornado videos but I think I like your style the best. I like the part where you show the neighborhoods intact and the destruction as the tornado passes instead of before and after photos. The way you do it really brings to life the progression of destruction and devastation. It’s heartbreaking.

I am a GIS specialist and your maps and the way you presented the spatial information was incredible! I especially admired how you blended the satellite imagery from before ad after the tornado hit as the tornado was raging through. It really shows how destructive the tornado really was. Thank you for treating the victims with respect and highlighting the inaction from the federal government and FEMA. Important video!!

Another amazing video from you bro. Washington is one of those tornadoes you think is straight out of a movie. The debris in the air, the destruction, the look to it. Probably deserved an EF5 rating.

thank you so much for covering this tornado. i was a peoria resident at the time and i remember this event and the aftermath vividly. i cannot tell you how long ive been looking for good coverage of this tornado.

my church and school did a month long fundraiser, i participated by selling those little friendship bracelets and donating all the money to the cause.

i remember their marching band doing parades and a chiefs game, showcasing how strong washington had come back. i was in marching band at the time, too, and i remember how much the community rallied around them. it was truly incredible.

This is an EXCEPTIONAL video. Great voice and narration, along with amazing footage, and the best graphics display of the tornado's path and damage I've ever seen. Brilliant. THANK-YOU!
