Hate to tell you this as I started out with some of the same confusion you showed in your review. As lengthy and as wordy as her notebook is and the overall pocket format and costs associated with publication We are extremely lucky to have the Diary as it is currently published. To make all the changes you are describing the page size would have to be larger, costs associated with the use of several fonts would be added and the number of pages would likely go up as well. And all these factors the cost would likely be around $80 or more and it would not be as portable. The choices they made to publish it in this size and format have kept the price of purchase within the reach of most people's budgets.

As to numbering in the Diary there are 2 main kinds: Paragraph/Entry Numbers, And Notebook Page Numbers in the original notebooks. The Paragraph/Entry numbers run through all the Notebooks and tend to be an enumeration of each day's entry. And Notebook Page numbers to preserve, in the current format, the way these entries appeared in the Notebooks that make up her Diary. These tend to be in parentheses "(315)".

Now there _is_ a third kind you noticed that had to do with notebook specific entry numbers for each of the notebooks that make up the diary. Yes it can be challenging to get used to the numbering systems used, but each have their good purpose in helping you keep notes of your experience with the diary by writing down those Paragraph/Entry numbers attached to entries you found especially meaningful. The other numbers are more to get an understanding of the format the Diary had originally both in the total page count of all notebooks and the notebook specific entry numbers assigned within each notebook of the Diary. All of these are meant to aid us in understanding the process Saint Faustina Kawalska^ of the Blessed Sacrament went through in writing (and rewriting) Her Diary.

^St. Faustina's last name Kawalska is pronounced as if the 'w' in it was a 'v' Kah-Vahl-Skah (if anyone out there feels i'm misrepresenting the pronunciation, pls leave a follow up comment below).

I thought you were going to review the contents rather than the editing.
