I think the main problem is ppl getting them as adults or wild caught. It’s almost impossible to change a behavior in a reptile once it’s already ingrained in them, so the species gets a bad rap, but getting them young, cb, and working with them should resolve the issue entirely.

They tame down pretty easily if you're willing to work with them. If you're scared of bites, just get a small one as the bites don't hurt at all and by the time they're adults, they'll be puppy dog tame.

I use mine to educate kids and elderly people on reptiles since tokays are so chill and will just fall asleep on your shoulder which has a really calming effect on people.

It all depends on how you care for them and handle them. My tokays are tamed as two of them are Wild caught. One of them just tolerates me! lol, while my boy just plots his escape, he bit me once and he behaved after that.. All of my tokays in the past few decades have became calm and relaxed.. My recent crew Lamara and Alvin are wild but both don't bit.. While my old girl Belle be wanting to be hold and loved...
