Update: For the bigger stands I would recommend pre-drilling and counter sink from the outside of the dowel and screw in 1.5-2" wood screws right into the 1x2 platform, then fill in the countersink with wood filler. The glue and dowels are pretty strong as is, I tested the joint by pulling the dowel away from the platform and it can withstand about ~20 lbs of weight before it cracks and loosens. You shouldn't be pulling the dowel away from the platform anyways but if you want to make the joint extra strong use wood screws to secure it further.

Subscribed! Was wondering if you can round the edges of the 1x2 platform pieces to make them fit perfectly to the long dowels/ rods? What tool would you think would do that?

Would totally buy all 4 plant stands from you! Unfortunately I don't have the time or tools to do this "simple" DIY :(

Thank you! Your videos are helpful. Just a question, can the stand hold heavy pot plants? Will the wood bend over time?

Hi.. Thank you for the tutorial! Do you think this stand you could make it taller - Like 3 Feet tall for a tall stand and do you think it would hold the weight of a Imperial Berkey Water system tank (it holds 4.5 gallons of water and weighs 12lbs without water). Thank you so much for your input. Have a great day!

Paul, do you recall the size dowel pins you used?

What size dowel pin did you use on 1x2. I used a 3/8 dowel pin and split my wood.
