Motifs after François Boucher and other leading painters populate the surface of Sèvres porcelain, including pieces in The Frick Collection. Pullins considers what it was about academic painters’ training and working methods that encouraged the adaptation of their motifs from canvas to porcelain, textiles, and other media.
