Once wildfires start, one of the ways they spread is through firebrands—hot embers that blow into unburned areas.

It happens quite often, yet there’s a lot we still don’t know about how firebrands work. To try to answer some of those questions, an Oregon engineer has turned his farm into an outdoor laboratory.

Fire is hot. Embers float, and make other areas hot. Air feeds the fire. Things burn.

Mystery solved.
But... we could spend a bunch of money and time to observe a tiny version of something we have endless footage of. :D

Biased and incomplete studies, could account for healthy forest activities. Eastern geographic features differ from western, both need ground cooling protection. Elevation, direction and exposed surface mass all factor with equation. Good study, for essential work to sustainability. Probably going to continue your lazy lightening rod style.
