What I noticed is that when the protagonist asks the fake Rick who he is, he quickly changes the conversation and never tells us his name or even says his name is Rick, very good detail. I also believe that the fake rick tells the story of the woman who died so that we would not go down to where he lives. He even mentions that other guests reported noises downstairs, probably victims of the fake rick who were very curious and went down to the basement but the fake rick killed them.

I think it's implied that fake Rick attacked the man that was harassing us, he enters the house holding a hammer and right after you wake up you hear a scream, and he says that you don't have to worry about that guy anymore.

Bro I have a theory I think the fake Rick is the previous owner of the house as he said"I want my house back and you" when he confronts us, I think he lost the property to the real rick who bought and rented it out...he also have written home sweet home on his basement door indicating how much he is acquainted to that place...but yeah idk it's my opinion

Dude really it's a horrific experience as Mike had to travel 70 miles to catch up Nora if he wasn't within the time the main character would have died actually

One of my favorite things about this series is all the indicators and evidence of the antagonists and how easy it is to miss the hints, great video

My theory is the fake Rick is the previous owner of the house. He came up with that silly story about a ghost roaming in the basement making noises (it's really him), but perhaps part of it true, his mother died. He probably was left with the house but the house ended up foreclosed on by the bank, that's how the new/real Rick purchased the house. I think the current owner has evicted fake Rick previously and just change the lock and assume that everything is a-ok...but problem not solved. It's possible that fake Rick has bothered previous tenants and real Rick heard about it, but since it's not escalated to violence before, real Rick probably didn't have the energy or willingness to investigate and properly chase off fake Rick from the property.

If you hide out in the fishing shed while playing hide and seek with Mike, you can peek out from under the blinds and get a full view of the back of the house and catch "Rick" shadow walking towards the kitchen to take the milk from the fridge while Mike walks out towards you in the shed!

My theory is that, fake Rick was raised in that house. It’s possible that the stories he told about a woman who fell and died in the basement was his mother. And fake Rick lost his house to the bank. And real Rick bought the house for his renting business. But because of his mother and childhood attachments to the house he became mental knowing that someone owns his old home and tenants keep going to “his” house.

Ohhh, so THAT’S what that room in the basement was. Thanks for the clarification!

Not really an "easter egg" but I did notice a neat glitch: When you're hiding, if you close the bedroom door after Rick leaves the first time, it softlocks the game. Rick will be walking in place behind the door, and going into the attic doesn't trigger the phone ringing. Your only options are to walk out into the hall, at which point Rick will suddenly notice and kill you, or restart the game.

You can hear the snoring even if (fake) Rick is outside your door, but i guess its just an oversight on dev part.

It bothers me so much that rick and the hitchhiker both say there is no police, when we past a police car on the way there. I wish we could reference back to it. Or perhasp we can 'accidently' bump into the police cruiser, maybe exchange a police card to have proof of the police

I’m not sure if you’ve mentioned these already but here are a few more clues

- The first and really big clue happened as soon as they arrived. If fake Rick was the real homeowner why didn’t he hand Sydney the keys in person? She was supposedly texting him so he could have easily opened the door for them then given her the keys. It makes no sense for him to give her the code to a security box if he was going to be there to “greet them”

- Fake Rick says “there’s no cops around here” but if you drive around for a bit you’ll see many cop cars out patrolling

- Fake Rick says he’s going to go look for his cat but he’s wearing a short sleeve shirt and pants. There’s basically a snowstorm happening outside and there didn’t appear to be another car at the house. He would freeze to death if he stayed outside like that which means he wasn’t planning on going far. If you follow him he walks down a trail next to the house that seems to lead to the back of the house near the steam

- Fake Rick is seen with a hammer claiming he’s there to fix the sink but Mike calls him out. Fixing a sink with nothing but a hammer is highly suspicious

- Last clue before the big reveal is fake Rick knocking on the door. If it was his house he would obviously have a spare set of keys and if he got her text he would know it’s an emergency. Why did he need to be let in?

Rick definitely has some kind of paranoia as he goes around the house whenever he wants (Sydney and Mike catch him in the bathroom upstairs) and he acts like that is normal. Though he seems to be quite intelligent. He somehow manages to lure the protagonist and deuteragonist from the booking website. That means he has control over it. He also seems to not mind the two main characters until Sydney makes him angry in the end. He only came out to check on the noise which woke him up when the hiker was at the front door. And the reason he always is carrying a hammer is likely because he wants to ensure his own safety. And as his paranoia makes him think he owns the house, he rents it out to make some money (?)

The cat is most likely his as well and that is why he was looking for it. Sydney also partially finds out about Rick's paranoia as she calls it "extreme social unawareness"
Though at the end she wrongly believes he was planning on robbing them.

Who is the guy in cafe, the one who comes and says things like, "Karma is a bitch."???

One theory i have which i have not seen it being discussed is that michael knew that the fake rick wasn't the actual owner of the house. After the scene where he tries to fix the faucet, michael says something like "he's acting like he owns the place", which leads me to believe this was a slip up and he knew all along

Something else to notice, is that like you said with the doors in the attic could mean there were previous incidents. There is more proof, at the start when you book the home it has 2, 3 star reviews. 2 reviews, 2 broken doors in the attic, coincidence? I think not.
