I don't know if this is true yet this was taught to me by my Italian language teacher. If you go to Italy and decide to order pepperoni, Italians would think you're ordering green/red/yellow pepper pizza instead of your typical salami slices pizza in the USA. To order one, you gotta say spicy sausage or somewhere along those lines.

Can vouch for this. Happened to my wife. They looked at us funny when she ordered the latte but gave her a cup of milk. I do think it was steamed milk, though.
