Great vid as usual, never had an AMD card before but that PCB looks beast compared to the newer nVidia ones. You mentioned that the EVGA Classifieds use a similar mosfets. I would really love to see a PCB breakdown of the 980 Ti Classified if you have the time for one and good quality pics are available. Keep up the good work!

After doing a DIY cooling solution to a second hand 290X I picked up it seems I missed cooling the topmost smaller mosfet in your image. (IFR6811?) The card will not let my PC boot anymore and a black marking on the top of that mosfet is the only damage I can see with the naked eye. Do you know any cheap tricks to make the card work again?

what I would like you to do like this is a gtx 1060. and show the 1.5v memory bus. show the 3.3v gate bus. the 5v counter bus and usb, and 12v bus. that would make me able to do just about whatever with trouble shooting, without a schematic. Your videos are so clear and concise even I could understand it. you may only do radeon, but to me they are so similar, even the counterpart radeon would probably work.

This video makes me want to voltage/power mod my GTX580 Hydrocopper 2... Hmmmm. :D Thanks for another great breakdown vid!

You mention at a point to put a temperature probe near the VRM. Isn't the software readout correct from GPUZ?
I am asking because I change the cooler of my 290x because it was too loud. The problem is that I now with the watercooler I have random black screen but only during high gpu usage. But even in games like smite I get black screen. Gpu temp does not go over 50 and VRM1 stays bellow 70 and Vrm2 bellow 50. These temps I get in games. Right now I run FurMark (GPU - 62, VRM1 - 88, VRM 2 - 58). And no crash!! So it looks it is not temp related. I play games in 4k. I have tried differetn power supply. Separate power cables, lower, higher voltages.. and lower or higher gpu speeds. I seams that the GPU speed is not related to the event. Now it is stable but with a mem clock speed of 1000 Mhz.. that is 250 mhz lower then default. Gpu is at 1000 as default. Any ideas?
Furmark does not use only 702 MB of VRAM..

I flashed PT1 on my water-cooled 290x and i can't seem to get the GPU tweak to work. I think it's interfering with Radeon software because the core clock gets reset every time I try to apply it...

Only voltage doesn't immediately jump back but I can't seem to find any difference in HWinfo in terms of voltage 🤔

Do you think the back of the card needs some additional cooling? Right now I've water-cooled the card and I would like to push it. I think that on the back there are all the drivers. I would like to cool my vrm a bit more so I was wondering if cooling the back might help or not. Also I don't know where vrm1 probe is, that's why I'm asking.

question, does the ir3567b need a heatsink?

Hello! Could you please tell me what happens if the high site MOSFET of the extra voltage phase is gate-Source shorted (not in itself, but in its driver NCP5230) ? I would consider it as the 7th phase, also I don't know if this is the actual numbering as I do not have schematic. I have a problem with a R9 290 4GB 7 phase graphic card that only supplies voltage to Memories, but not to GPU! Is that some sort of protection the controller uses in such cases and phase 1 to 6 are not activated by IR3567B? Thanks for clearing it out!

Hey, talking obscure cards, could you do a GTX780? Also it would be nice if you considered making a video about differences in sibling cards like r9 290 - r9 290x, GTX780 - GTX Titan and such.

I just found your channel and i enjoy it so far. I have R9 290X Lightning, and it have all voltages unlocked in Afterburner, even Aux, but i never knew how Aux voltage could help me with my OC ?

Hey, where can i find VRM schematic for the 5970? Card wont post and 2 red led lit on the back. Checked vcores and nothing only a 3.3 voltage was measurable on the Vdd pin on the Pm25LV010 chip

When viewing Shammy voltmod guide it show VMEM measure on rear VRM and VDDCI on front VRM, so is front phase VDDCI or MVDDC? and what about 1 phase on rear VDDCI or MVDDC?

Then VMEM adj volt mod is differing location to your information. Any chance of clarification? cheers

Great video. What do you think about that Sapphire 390 Nitro pcb btw? Core vrm looks a bit different to me, also different mosfets.
