Faith to me is like... "I am scared of the unknown so I have to hold on to something, anything"

If we talking about christianity especially...it talks about light a lot. Well religions light is so bright....that it blinds you.

Another problem I have with faith is, people see it as their truth, THEIRS. And honestly, we humans WANT people to believe in truth. There is an almost 100% chance a person that says "I respect you even if you dont believe in my religion" is almost always a lie bc deep within they are upset you do not acknowledge THEIR truth.
And yes wanting people to believe smth that isnt proven IS bad. Imagine I was going around saying smth like "dragons are real" or "we (insert kind of group/commity you can think of) are the chosen ones" bc I was somewhere alone and had a "meeting" with some form no one else saw you HAVE to believe me because I said it's the TRUTH

Exactly, the relationship between God and humanity is toxic as hell. “You need me to be fulfilled”, “I’m deserving of your worship and if you don’t you’ll suffer for eternity”, “you cannot question my judgement because your’s is inherently flawed and mine is perfect”, etc… just ew.

i just dont want to believe or be forced to believe in something that will ruin my life or change it because if i do that then the free will everyone claims we have is gone and living becomes "purposeful" at the cost of having no purpose for your own life and no value or worth other than to appease something or someone

A few weeks ago me and my little sister were reading an old children’s Bible from our preschool (which childhood indoctrination is icky in itself but I’m atheist and much happier now. I think my little sister still kinda believes in God but for the same reason I didn’t leave Christianity until later; she was afraid she was gonna go to Hell. Again, childhood indoctrination sucks. But I did get out of religion bc of your vids making me feel confident in my lack of belief so ty!) for fun bc we were bored and it was- erm- interesting. Like, the people could all speak the same language in the story and then God was all like “you don’t need me anymore? Well, I’ll just plop you all around the world and mix up your languages”. And then there was this other story where the people were being rude to each other so God told one couple to get a bunch of animals on a boat so he could flood the world. He legit killed everything and somehow he’s the good guy?? Huh? Doesn’t make sense, not to mention all of the scientific errors like the world was created in a couple of days. Makes no sense at all and it doesn’t help to cherry-pick either

What do you think of non organized religions (like paganism) and the rise of “spiritual but not religious” people following umbrella beliefs like pantheism, panentheism, and theism, without the involvement of religion? I was curious because apparently there is a large rise in people participating in those types of beliefs and wanted to hear your thoughts

4:45 becuse religion is normal. It’s perfectly natural to be religious psychology shows that children are actually primed to believe in religion. Look up born believers.

For example my favorite is the Transandental argument for god

1. There is a transcendental unity of apperception, a set of categories that give rise to our present experience and make knowledge, and therefore argumentation, possible.
The existence of God is a possibly necessary condition for the existence of this transcendental apperception.
Therefore, God exists. See?
Also it’s empiricaly proven religion helps anxiety and depression.

We know for a fact thanks to studies that people with religion have less mental illness, people who recite psalms have less anxiety, religious people have a far greater sense of purpose that you do not see with atheism. The burden of proof is on you to prove that since your making the claim so show me the studies please.

3. Your apparent gaps in knowlege about spiritaulity, and religion in general has lead me to believe you havent even researched any of these topics you speak about.
