I have sought the forgiveness of those I wronged, and they accepted it alhamdulilah, and I repented to Allah. I understand the burden she is feeling. It's a heavy weight to carry when you know that you could be asked about it by Allah in the Day of Judgement. As for the sister if you are reading this, make a dua to Allah that you will try your best not to do it again and repent. Allah will see you striving to improve yourself and he is the Most Forgiving.

Let it go sheikh. She sounded sincere.

It's time like these when we are tested. She did her part. Allah forgives all sins. She doesn't have to pay or get punished in the grave as the sheikh said she will if Allah forgives her and saves her.

May Allah guide us all and forgive us. May Allah make us those who forgive and overlook the faults of others so that he may forgive us and overlook our faults.

May Allah make us those who do not wish for our brothers and sisters in Islam to be tortured in the grave. Ameen

Backbiting creates many social issues and conflicts, it's an evil. Imagine how many people this woman has turned away from the truth by speaking trash against the sheikh. Forgiving people like this will give them a clean chit and allow them to just backbite people and ask their forgiveness after possibly uprooting their lives. What they should do is undo all the consequences of their backbiting and then ask for forgiveness if they can. It's not about pride, the sheikh has every right not to forgive her. If her repentance is true, she will get her reward from Allah.

Most likely I didnโ€™t get the question and the answer as well, clearly and completely! Better to walk away. Backbiting is a BIG issue and a great sin for most of us. ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ข

Totally respect the shaikh, wise. Maybe this will be a cause of remorse for the questioner and she will truly repent to Allah and take the sin of backbiting seriously. Since remorse is the essence of repentance

This might sound harsh and unforgiving but often comes from a seriously hurt heart.

Let this be a lesson so that we do not backbite other Muslims, Allah is The Most Forgiving but humans are unforgiving.

Well some lessons are taught the hard way. Not gonna complain his ways considering how critical this Sin is in the eyes of Allah swt.

Well, as a Sheikh he could have said yes(Ameen) and said to not go back to it again, and repent to Allah.

Atleast that person came asked him for repentance directly. Unlike many others.

Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, โ€œBe merciful to others and you will receive mercy. Forgive others and Allah will forgive you.โ€

ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุงุนู„ู…

But the fact the person apologized directly, this person should get something in return

Come on Sheikh

Sheikh isn't wrong here. People are misusing the Hadith about forgiveness and mercy, often to blackmail someone. But forgiving in every case is also not advised in Islam. You all cannot teach the Sheikh, he has knowledge and reasons for not accepting every apology and we should try to learn from this, instead of jumping to conclusions and trying to blackmail him with Ahadith.

I like the way you warn the ignorant critics, anyone who disgraces a Shaikh must pay for it.

But Sheikh, if the lady is asking you to forgive her, please do so. Then Allah will forgivr you too.

Now Iโ€™m confused. Does it comes under backbiting if we tell others that so and so speaker gives liberal opinions. Givez his own opinion out of islam. So please not to follow so and so person.. please someone explain

Akhi @JAL, I don't know how to phrase my question but this is basically a strange video for all of us. I want to give the Sheikh excuses and even defended him (but deleted the comments I made here to the others because I might have said a lie) but after finding the full video and watching it again, I'm confused why he's refusing to forgive her. I understand he doesn't have to forgive her Islamically and the duty is upon the transgressor to persist in asking for forgiveness but how would people approach him? People are already scared enough of the Sheikh. I think that according to his words, it sounded (to him) based on how the woman phrased her du'a that she (or the people watching who have harmed him but don't have any intention of seeking the Sheikh's forgiveness) would use this opportunity to say Ameen to the du'a and then think they'll get away on the day of judgement.

What's your understanding akhi as he know's you more than us and perhaps he could explain what happened? Please clarify it for us if possible to put our hearts at ease and defend the Sheikh's honour and to prevent him being misunderstood.

Sheikh after saying this to her do you still expect soemone you backbited to forgive you? How can you preach and then act like this?
Ahmad (6255) narrated from โ€˜Abdullah ibn โ€˜Amr ibn al-โ€˜As from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) that he said, when he was on the minbar: โ€œShow mercy, and you will be shown mercy; forgive, and Allah will forgive you.

Sheikh with due respect you backbite about other scholars and nations as well. If you cant forgive a person you dont even know then whats so hard to forgive ? If a wife does the backbiting behind her husbands back and her husbands complains to you, you would simply say just forgive her and try to reconcile yet you wont ? You are simply saying its in Allah's hand yet he has given you power to forgive too. May Allah make us steadfast in deen and honest
