Persona 4, localized in the West as Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4, is the fifth game in the Persona series. The game was developed by Atlus for the PlayStation 2, and was ported to the PlayStation 3's PlayStation Store as a downloadable classic akin to Persona 3 FES, but only in North/South America.

An enhanced port of Persona 4, Persona 4 Golden, was released in 2012 for PlayStation Vita, for Steam in 2020, and in 2023 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and the Microsoft Store on PC. It has many new features over the original Persona 4 and re-did certain enemy stats, dungeon aspects, voices for Chie and Teddie, among others.

As with Persona 3, the game is a turn-based RPG akin to most games of the Shin Megami Tensei series, although this game's plot is rather unique compared to other games in general and in its series as it is based off a murder mystery.

Persona 4 follows a group of high school students dealing with a mysterious TV channel dedicated to distorting and exaggerating the truth of who they are and their identities. A string of bizarre murders related to the TV channel begins shaking their once peaceful town. They explore the mysterious world inside the TV and perform rescue missions in order to save its victims from death. Only by looking past what is on the screen, finding and evaluating the truth among a myriad of lies can they hope to find the serial killer and save their town.

Persona 4 The Animation (ペルソナ4アニメ, Perusona 4 Anime)? is a television anime adaptation of Persona 4 that was created by AIC ASTA and overseen by Aniplex, using the same characters, setting and narrative of the source material. Shigenori Soejima and Shoji Meguro, the original's art director and music composer, respectively, return in their former roles.

Nanako lives with her father Ryotaro Dojima, a detective in Inaba, at the Dojima Residence. She is also the maternal cousin of the protagonist. Her mother, Chisato Dojima, died in a hit and run when she was in preschool. The event caused a slight strain in her relationship with her father as he became obsessed with catching her mother's killer and Nanako maturing at a young age, taking on her mother's duties in her absence.

Chie Satonaka is a playable character from Persona 4. An energetic girl with a love of kung-fu movies, she's one of the protagonist's classmates at Yasogami High School.

Yukiko Amagi is a playable character from Persona 4. She is the protagonist's classmate at Yasogami High School, and her family runs Inaba's hot springs inn called the Amagi Inn where she is next in-line as manager.

Tohru Adachi is a character in Persona 4. He is a police detective and Ryotaro Dojima's partner.

So, during the Christmas party scene, they do have Dojima say "Adachi confessed to the murders, " but they forgot to include a reaction from Nanako. It's weird because... they didn't hide the fact that he did it, but I guess having her react to that information wasn't on their priorities list. When I had to write that scene into my fanfic, I even made sure to add a reaction.
