“There’s something about having a man’s name that gives her a real sense of misplaced confidence.” - -Acton Bell- Anne Brontë

What must really sting is that Agnes Grey was written a year before Jane Eyre. Anne must feel like the Hydrox to Charlotte's Oreo.

I'd love to read a novel about a tortoise and a giraffe and how they cope with living on the wind swept Yorkshire moors.

I’m still dying “I am literally A Bronte “

Eleanor is a unique treasure in the comedy world.

Honestly Anne is my favourite and her writing is SO underrated though. I enjoyed The Tenant of Wildfell Hall easily as much as Wuthering Heights or Jane Eyre, and it genuinely is a good book with a lot to it!
I've also heard that there's a conspiracy that Charlotte Bronte tried to undermine Anne's work because she didn't think its themes were appropriate for victorian society, which is why she became less famous - NO idea if that's true, but that's what my dad (also an Anne Bronte fan) claims!

Anne Bronte's books are good - though Wildfell Hall is more dramatic and it did really well when it came out - so much so that people believed that Charlotte supressed a reprint because she was jealous (she wrote critically of it.) But literary comments aside, very well observed, I think you and Alastair Beckett-King should get your own TV sketch show.

I actually like Anne better than Emily tbh. And while Charlotte Brontë is my favorite author of all time, I do think Anne's books outshine Charlotte's in some aspects. It is true that I'd never have read Anne Brontë if I didn't love her sister so much, but her books deserve recognition.

I mean, at least she wasn't Branwell.

No Yorkshire accent from the queen of accents? I’m disappointed! Loved the bit about George Eliot 😆

Ironically, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall was my first and most favourite piece by any Brontë 🥰

Bruh... I just heard about Wildfell and I'm almost done with it AND IT'S SO GOOD!!! she needs so much more recognition.
Edit: it's really NOT the same as Wuthering Heights. Read the crap out of that one too.

It's a really good bet that Bramwell DOES want to go to the pub...

I love Anne Brontë and her work. This is my favourite video from Eleanor. Could not stop laughing throughout it's duration. It is very funny but it does highlight the fact Anne's books have been criminally overlooked in comparison with her sisters. Anne is a woman I have great admiration for.

This book signing must have happened in the 4 or 5 days between when Emily died and Anne herself became deathly ill. Hmm, and then she wants to go the pub with a rotting corpse at the end. A bit of an odd duck.

My first ever Anne Bronte book is Agnes Grey and boy did she inspire me to read again after what felt like eons. Her novels are deeply philosophical and I enjoyed her storylines way more than Charlotte's. Although I did find her partly because I love her other sisters, I ended up liking her the most! Kinda sad they never made Agnes Grey into a movie
