Documentary about George VI and his wife Elizabeth, King and Queen consort of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions. The story of Albert (his name before he became King) and Elizabeth, is one of goodness growing into greatness. In a short reign, just 14 years, they created an ideal of the British Royal Family. This documentary examines the legacy they built, a legacy that lives on in the way that their eldest daughter, Queen Elizabeth II, rules today.

George said " Elizabeth is my pride and joy, , but Margaret is my beloved darling " It was so beautiful I thought . He was a great father, husband and king

Here after watching The King's Speech. He had stammer and is frightened to speak infront of many people, let alone be the King but had no choice when his eldest brother took the easy way out and abdicated. He was a strong and resposible man. Didn't have the best childhood but raised his own children the best way and became a good father and King.

He was extremely handsome. Much more so than the actors who portray him. That face...

It was said that George wasn't as good looking as his older brother but looking at this old footage King George is much more easy on the eyes .

The best thing that could have happened was when Edward abdicated the throne.
A man that put duty and the people of Britain first, as he taught his daughter to do, was exactly who was meant to reign.
HE was a king!

God bless them both in Heaven. He never wanted to be King but was a hero to his nation. They both would be very proud of their daughter, Queen Elizabeth long may she reign and live. She's 92 now.

Queen Elizabeth II has inherited and incorporated all the good attributes of her parents into her reign.

Being a history buff, this was the greatest movie I have ever seen. Both men should have shared the Oscar. Watching the 60 Minutes interview was outstanding. Well done in every detail....Long Live The King!

Even though George V was known to instill tough love unto his children (it was said that) he did soften after his granddaughter Elizabeth was born. He loved her so much that he wished that David (Edward VIII) would bore no children so that nothing could come between the throne and Bertie (George VI) and Lilibet (Elizabeth II)

American here. The royal families history is really interesting to me. I don’t get why every actor whose played King George vi has looked nothing like him? He was an attractive man

I m not british, but I ve learnt a lot about european dinasties. To be honest, for me, Bertie was a real blessing. Im romanian, and we have a king, Carol II, the cousin of Eduard VIII, who also left the throne for a woman, almost identical as W.Simpson.In real history books, i ve read that both cousins ( your Eduard and out Carol II), suffered from priapism . That s why, both of them were insclaved by two women who had some sexual skils. And Bertie was a stutterer, like out king Michael of Romania, who was his nephew. And they look alike. Same dinastic family, same problems. I really admire George VI, aș I admire out Michael I. They were both very strong characters, despite their stummering, very inteligent and so loving aș husbands and fathers.

I had the great honour of being asked to sing our national anthem 'O Canada' at a state luncheon for the Qieen Mother, in Edmonton Alberta. As she was leaving she broke away from her escort and walked over and shook my hand and thanked me for singing and she chatted a bit about the good acoustics.
