TCL fan here looking to go bigger. Deciding on 6 or 4 series. It would have been nice if the 4 series wasn’t flooded with natural lighting compared to the dark room 6 series. Also in terms of sound quality we will never know from that song.

We have a tcl 4 series. It’s an ok tv, but I don’t allow it to connect to the internet at all. It has the roku interface but I have it set to boot to hdmi 1, where I ironically have a roku 4K stick plugged in. That works pretty well and using hdmi arc it’s connected to a Sony sound bar. Truth be told though, I got this TV in 2020, and it was literally the only 65 inch TV the store had. If they’d had any other brand I probably would have bought that, but they didn’t have any of their Samsung, lg, vizio screens of that size in stock. Of course that was November 2020 so we know how 2020 was.

In fact just got a vizio for the man cave area of the same size and I like the vizio more. I think it’s a v series, so still on the budget and. But again I don’t connect my smart TVs to internet except maybe a time or 2 to get updated. After that they don’t get connected. I get why companies are putting roku for example into their TV due to cost and due to ads where they can make more money, but I prefer my TVs to be dumb and to have a decent picture. As someone who works on computers it seems the more electronics you stuff into TVs the more likely they break down then you are stuck buying another.

i wish you would have placed the TVs in the same place when showing the screen quality. the window lights are different during the screen video cuts and the 4 series is getting more light reflection.

I'm trying to get away from Roku TV's because you can't really adjust them. They just "auto-set" when in hdr & mine is dark in a small dark room.
I'm trying to find a brighter budget ($500-600) android/Google TV. You get more control, unless you get it professionally calibrated

no 42 or 43" in 6-series. But speed is important. Youtube TV crashes on my TCL Android 32". And there is no solution. I think it is because youtube TV requires heavy processing power and a 5G link to the router. The TCL 32" Android is Slooowww.. And it is on the 2G network. So, I think like an old computer that is Boggy, it suffers application problems and crashes!
BUt also, this is the dumb thing about TCL's website. I searched "All TV's"... Then I filtered on "Roku", and NO 6-series appears in the results. I didnt even know there was a 6-series until I saw your video. I had to Google TCL 6-series and then that linked me to the proper URL on TCL's website. TCL needs to fix that on their website

Greg, Great video. I noticed on the 6 series the legs are closer together than the same model in the store which are much further apart. did you adapt the leg spacing? closer would be able to fit on my stand.

If you buy a Roku soundbar which is about 80 bucks it will solve two of those problems. You'll get an upgraded remote and you'll get a forward facing speaker. Let's be honest all speakers on these ultra flat tvs pretty much suck because the sound bounces off the back wall.

i have the top of the line ROKU streaming device that I'd still use . I wouldn't use the TV built in ROKU.

tcl is chinese, you probably wont even be able to buy them in the west. roku is america's answer to chinese manufacturing. roku is AMAZING value.
