Scar from impact now in northeast Oregon
Nechako Plateau in BC, Canada
One objective of expedition to explore ice-free corridor and ‘Athabasca/Foothills Erratics Train’
Flow-paths off plateau and ice-filled valleys opening to south onto Scablands
Basalt plateau extruded 16-10 million years ago, with most recent small event around 6mya
Research objectives for BC expedition this summer; what to look for as evidence
Snake River fossil channel within 80-mile wide plain
BREAK 9:42
Anasazi: The Ancient Ones [offense to this term is under debate - we apologize - there is no malicious intent]
Southwest US topo maps with San Juan Basin and Four Corners region
Maps of Chaco Canyon
Center of Chaco culture with network of roadways, outliers and signal towers
Casa Rinconada about 1000 years old; Fajada Butte; What tribe?

Pierre’s Ruin and Badlands Pinnacles
“El Faro” – the lighthouse aligned with the North Road
Complex of signal towers and use; alignment with network of roadways
Prominences with towers, with hearths for huge bonfires

After a frustrating week of listening to the news it is nice to sit back and enjoy a video on real catastrophes.

I've been out to the 4 corners areas twice... 98 and 03... it is truly an amazing place... a friend of my father owned a farm that had a large Anasazi ruin on it near Cortez CO... mostly unexcavated... on a smaller scale, while digging a hole to plant a bush in my dad's yard I found several pottery shards... must have been a huge population of people... can't wait to go back

Randall, you could test the effect of your bullet asteroid hypothesis in the program 'Universe Sandbox 2'. Within that program you can perfectly recreate the exact type and scale of this cosmic impact, with the addition of vivid visuals of said impact. I surmise it would be a powerful tool to add to your overall hypothesis. Additionally, thank you sir. These past couple years you have greatly educated me and I am in your debt for the education. In fact you're one of the greatest teachers many, many of us have had in this field. We are all in your debt, truly, thank you.

I guess my big question, since I was much younger, has always been the Missouri and Mississippi river valleys, "why are they so deep and wide, with hard cut bluffs on both sides"? The common explanation is the gradual cutting of the valleys over millions of years by the river itself.... As I understand it, though, the rivers have been dropping and building up hundreds of feet of sediment into these valleys since (at least) the end of the ice age, which kind of negates the idea that the rivers have been cutting these immense if an impact related super flood washed into the already existing (smaller) river valleys, it would be easy for me to imagine the depth and width of the "new" river valleys being cut in one shot, as the mega-wash would have followed the paths already there, blowing them out to present size....it's nice to think I haven't always just been a dreamer fool, and there might actually be some geologic basis to my love, much props

Seen petroglyphs in Oak Creek Canyon along the river in Sedona . Stunningly beautiful down in there.

thank you so much. we all the straight roads with the vertical edging are interesting. perhaps these vertical edging pieces were used to roll the large logs. much easier than rolling on the road as there would only be the width of the edging in contact. with the log. come to think of it, this is a pretty good idea!

I badly want the next installment especially if it goes over "Ecological safe havens". We keep hearing Randall talk about Factor X and hinting at where to go for safety in such cataclysms time after time but there hasn't been any concrete discussion so far. I'm also interested about these safe havens because of the subjects he brought up like the Great Fires and the one church safe zone. Also, for any Wheel of Time fans, such ideas are represented in the novels as steddings.

Has there been a lidar scan of Chaco Canyon and it's vicinity? Maybe this type of scan will show more things than we ever thought to be there just like what happened in the Amazon.

Please look into the giant mud canyons south east of Alamo Lake in Western Arizona. I lack the ability to process the flood path hat laid down that much fresh silt! It’s a fair distance from current river paths and and it’s nothing like the geology around the mud canyons. More recent seasonal rains have carved out canyons that are 40-50 feet deep of pure hardened mud.

There are 3 river systems that flow into that valley so I’m dying to know what it’s geological history was like. Please come check them out.

Sinagua Indian ruins can be found around the Sedona area. Ruins and petroglyphs at the base of mesas just west of Rte 89a.

Burning grasses and different dryland scrub bush would give short sharp flames and the color could be varied dependent on the oils in the vegetation. The fires need not be continuous, the flame could be color coded or duration coded, Straight roads and starlight would be enough to navigate especially if the travellers code was to keep the path uncluttered and clear.
