Over 100 years ago, Albert Einstein grappled with the implications of his revolutionary special theory of relativity and came to a startling conclusion: mass and energy are one, related by the formula E = mc2. In "Einstein's Big Idea," NOVA dramatizes the remarkable story behind this equation. E = mc2 was just one of several extraordinary breakthroughs that Einstein made in 1905, including the completion of his special theory of relativity, his identification of proof that atoms exist, and his explanation of the nature of light, which would win him the Nobel Prize in Physics. Among Einstein's ideas, E = mc2 is by far the most famous. Yet how many people know what it really means? In a thought-provoking and engrossing docudrama, NOVA illuminates this deceptively simple formula by unraveling the story of how it came to be.

Cine👏matic master👏piece👏
The acting?? the passion, and the drama?? The factual history?? The authentic writing and directing?? It's a yes for me.
I could feel the emotion in the eyes of these people acting out some of the most important moments in scientific history and I will admit that goosebumps made an appearance on my arms numerous times.
I am not gonna lie, I forgot how poetic some of the people in history were, like they would say something and I'd be like "damn, bars fr".
My ONLY criticism: I wish with all my heart that the modern people who would sometimes cut in and explain stuff would have gone into further detail about why tf Lavoisier drank only milk for like 2 months because what the actual hell

Faraday: "Lord help me think only of others to be of use to mankind. Help me to become part of the great circle that is your work and love. Lord, I am your servant". [ Einsteins Big Idea]. There is no schism or dichotomy between science and belief, other than that manufactured in the minds of atheists. Amazing and hypocritical as it sounds, as you are supposed to BELIEVE in them.

I watched this doc like 10 years ago and now I get to see it again.. Just magnificent.

The point being that it's no more a stretch than secularists attempting to create a dichotomy between belief and science, when three of the greatest scientists who ever lived had no problem integrating the Lord into their lives. Faraday went so far as dedicating his work to his Lord.

23:43 Absolute monarchy wasn't "ancient". The reason the stages of history go "feudalism, monarchy, democracy" is that monarchy was the new thing at some point.

If one Authority had not died and given rise to another before the meetings between Michael Faraday and Sir Humpry Davy on the cusp of an election toward The Royal Society ( Of Science ) in England it almost certainly ended then and at that cusp.
But ultimations go
Such as these are fine docu-dramas for us amateur inquisitives. Perhaps it took a French Revolution to add a little heat to the overthrow of tradition based upon what dogma is thrust upon those that were cautioned not to dare to think.
This thing, Electromagnetism, is going to take a lot of catching up with from me.
