That AI patient sitter has NOTHING to do with a nursing shortage. CNAs can sit with a paitent and call for an RN if needed. This is the hospital executive staff looking to cut jobs and spend less to come in under budget so they can give themselves a raise. I worked ICU bedside for 14 years and definitely saw this coming.

I started as an orderly in 1986. 1990 I got my Associates degree in Nursing, ADN. 2000, Bachelors degree, BSN. Working in ER, ICU, Post-Op, OR, Psych, Forensic psych, General Medical and in 2019? COVID19. By Feb 2020 the first cases began in my area. A week later 360 RN’s were laid off. Another 30 by June. So that BS? About shortages of Nurses? Was CREATED. Not to mention I had only 1 pay raise in 34 years. Im unemployed and “unemployable” because of my “Experience” and “Education”. So, there’s that

The sitter “Brandy” is actually a person who is watching the patient through the camera from a room usually in the facility. It is cheaper than paying a sitter who would be in the patient room. The virtual sitter can watch up to 4 patients and calls the nurse if the patient tries to get out of bed or pulls at IV lines.

Most organizations don’t have enough sitters.
