The refusal to take part in conflict on moral or religious grounds was a very serious matter at the time of the First World War, which contributes to their stories often being lost in history. However, the stories of a few Manx conscientious objectors can be discovered and one is told here, which sadly ended in death.

This is one of the stories which features in the First World War exhibition recently opened at the Manx Aviation and Military Museum near Ronaldsway.
It is presented by the director of the Museum, Ivor Ramsden.
More about the exhibition (which was partly funded through a grant from Culture Vannin) and the museum, including opening times, can be found on the MAPS website:

Culture Vannin exists to promote and support all aspects of culture in the Isle of Man.
