Saw a GV80 going for $91k after the dealer literally listed it as $69k on its website. This has to stop

It doesn’t matter. With the projected volume of BEV’s over the next few years, every company should hit these rebate limits quickly.

I’d rather get the RAV4 Prime than BZ4X

Hi Kirk, Thank you for making this video. I recently check the IRC 30D list of eligible vehicles for a tax credit. Surprisingly the bz4x is not on the list but the Solterra does! The last update for that list in May 6th. Do you have any information on that? i have the bz4x coming to me in a few weeks. .

Hey Kirk, I love the fact that you input this extremely important information in your reviews…NOBODY else out there, is talking about the rebate availability & who’s not going to have & who will! Thank you Sir, for this incredible information, because in the end, all of these pieces make up the puzzle of which make/model consumers will be drawn to, like myself! I’d love if you did a vid on just that, but it would probably be pretty short, as how you explained a lot in this video here! Thank you anyway!!

You're providing misinformation regarding the tax credit. The 7500 tax credit involving the IRS does not work that way. The 7500 credit counts for the quarter in which the $200, 000 units are met, as well as the immediate first subsequent quarter. It is only after that subsequent quarter that you get in the phase out period.

When will the bz4x delivery begins? They said by spring and we are in May middle of Spring already.

It might matter to prospective EV buyers that might just decide to give up and wait till they mature (which is what we should be doing anyway).

I'll try again.... According to the IRS web-site, now not listed here, the Paragraph that explains the phase-out, states that the phase-out starts the SECOND quarter after the quarter in which the 200k is hit, not the first quarter. Therefore, they should hit the limit this quarter. Then have one more quarter at $7500, and start the 50% phase out in the 4th quarter 2022.... this of course is an interpretation of the IRS wording and I'm not the only one that thinks this way.... any other thoughts?

This doesn’t look good🫤 hopefully EVs come down in price and eventually be as affordable as a corolla!

Any news on solid state batteries since the last time you talked about only use in hybrids because in a full electric car will be too expensive?

You should of started the title (Not for the average consumer). Just love how our government wants us to get us in a EV car but no incentives to the average worker

Range isn’t high enough and charge rate is to slow. Now the cost?? I’m good with ICE for now until SolidState batteries come out and an EV is not priced to high.

The commodity market is in a bull run thanks to running away inflation and supply chain difficulties. Most EV materials will skyrocket in price in 2 years max. Toyota needs to be patient and it shows with bZ4X/RZ450e having small batteries. They even build a special SR version for China with only 50kWh battery just in case battery supply gets worse.

China is experiencing large scale COVID lockdown so industrial production is expected to reduce by a LOT. And most raw materials for EVs are from China.

Raw material prices are just crazy. Praise the brand new cold war... I don't know what the world 10 years later will be like.

I'm seeing the currency rate of Japanese Yen. It's normally considered as reserve currency but its exchange rate is decreasing so quickly.

Some weeks ago, one of the official of BMW said that the world is not fully prepared for EV era. The number of batteries being made are not enough to meet the demands and so are other materials which are inevitable for making EV. And the world is diving into the situation of the 2nd cold war so quickly because of Russian ivasion of Ukraine.

Maybe legacy auto makers stay with us for a while but that doesn't mean that the situation is favorable to all of us.

If your goal of purchasing an EV is to save on the cost of gas don't waste your time outside of the very lowest cost ones that still have the tax rebates available. You will never get enough savings. By the time you even got close to break even the battery pack would need to be replaced which from my research will cost thousands of dollars. Eventually the market and EV infrastructure will mature just as other new technology eventually has but it is currently way to early in the process.

Tax laws and the laws of man in general are way more difficult to understand than the laws of Physics.

I have a Crosstrek plug in hybrid, I got it because it actually ended up being cheaper than the top trim regular Crosstrek with the incentives. Just wish it had lumbar support. I would definitely trade that off the heated steering wheel to get lumbar.

At the projected (low) volumes of the bZ4X and the Solterra, the availability of the tax credit will largely be irrelevant. Considering that Toyota manufactures both and can control quantities of both, the differences in MSRP with and without the credit won't matter relative to the lack of supply.
