Great distress? That's already here - both for those going through the most horrific end of life experiences.. and friends, family and partners who have to see their loved one destroyed by their illness. So many conditions ravage the body and mind, turning every day into one of pain and misery. This can be tolerated up to a point .. but then our current system just allows it to continue. The condition gets worse, the pain meds don't work, more of the person's mental acuity, mobility and autonomy .. gone. But no .. the suffering must continue because the religious, the slippery slopers and the fear mongers say we must not have the option to die with dignity on our own terms.
