Ulike vs Braun IPL Laser Hair Removal at Home

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light, and IPL at-home laser hair removal devices are handheld devices that use this technology to help reduce unwanted hair growth. These devices are designed to be used in the comfort of your own home and provide a less permanent alternative to professional laser hair removal treatments performed in clinics or salons.

IPL devices work by emitting intense pulses of light into the skin, targeting the hair follicles. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair, which then converts to heat and damages the follicle, inhibiting future hair growth. It's important to note that IPL devices are generally more effective on individuals with fair to medium skin tones and dark hair, as the contrast between the hair and skin color allows for better absorption of the light.

Using an IPL at-home device typically involves preparing the skin by shaving the treatment area and selecting the appropriate intensity level on the device. The device is then placed against the skin, and pulses of light are emitted as it is moved across the area. It is important to follow the manufacturer's instructions and safety precautions provided with the device to avoid any potential risks or adverse effects.

While IPL at-home devices can be convenient and cost-effective compared to professional treatments, it's important to manage your expectations. Results may vary, and it may take multiple sessions over a period of time to achieve the desired reduction in hair growth. Additionally, IPL devices may not be suitable for everyone, such as those with very light or gray hair, as the lack of pigment makes it difficult for the light to target the hair follicles effectively.

If you're considering using an IPL at-home device, it's advisable to consult with a dermatologist or healthcare professional to determine if it's the right option for you and to ensure you use the device safely and effectively.

I went with the SkinGenics IPL because it was pretty budget friendly. Seeing wonderful results. Wondering if you can review that instead ?

This is definitely my favorite comparison videos so far. As a Braun user for 3 years now, I would like to note something. When you use the Braun on auto, as he showed in his example, yes it might seem faster but it is not as precise, it also requires more energy which produces more heat = more pain after a few minutes. Just for one leg on medium setting it takes me like 30 minutes if I’m lucky. It is because that plates surrounding the light heats up so much, I have to stop halfway from my lower leg just so I can let the device cool down for a few minutes using my mini fan. If I don’t do this it will not be tolerable at all (at least for me) I have gotten use to the pain for years and I know my limits lol. Also after a couple of years you begin start seeing malfunctioning, for example, when you press the button on your target area to activate the light (not talking about auto setting, just normal use) it won’t work. The Braun has sensoradapt bar on the side of it which tells you if the area is too dark or if the surface is flat enough) if the bar is red it won’t flash. However, that bar was white for me and it still wouldn’t flash, I have to manually click the button multiple times (12-20) just for it to work. These problems all together increase the time you spend using the device. These are the long term effects, problems you won’t start experiencing or nothing for about 2 years maybe? At least for me that’s when I starting seeing it. I’m looking for something new now technology wise and design wise because my braun not cutting it for me anymore.

I had the same braun ipl before and it does the job. I like that you can do continuous laser while pressing the button. The fact that it stings and produces heat makes me feel like it's really working. The pain is really tolerable its nothing compared to the the ones you can get from clinics which has higher intensity.

Have you used it for ear hair and beard lining or even small terminal nose hairs on the top of the nose? Can it be used in a precisian way for small areas?

Maybe, I tolerate more pain, I have a reallly, really strong body hair, so I not even go to the highest setting, I also cover the sensors, so its working in maximum, I know it is not ideal, but for me, If I do it in the normal way, nothing changed for months and months

the ulike is better because there is an auto flash mode. for the braun you need to hold down the button which gets tiring.
