Today’s video is all about opioid analgesics for Nursing Students and NCLEX Review.

Analgesics are a drug class that reduce pain or fever. Opioids are a type of analgesic that binds to receptors in the brain and spinal cord, changing a patient’s perception of pain.

As a nurse, you should know how opioids (like fentanyl) can cause addiction, respiratory depression, and apnea.

Add Miralax daily if using opiods. Add prunes daily. Add a Dose with stimulant laxative if needed.

Why gastric lavage was performed even though this poisoning was due to over consumption of intravenous opioid?

What are the best responses to patients who consitently want their prn opioids but are upset because you deny to give them, their VS are low, they're more than drowsy, etc. I'm a new LPN and I feel in my gut it's not right to give more when they can barely stay awake for a minute when asking questions, BP low.

soooo if rr is lower than 12, naloxone or call RR? or is it naloxone and if treatment isn't working then call RR? That was explained two different ways.
