A timeless masterpiece. So few words can say so very much to so very many! Steve Winwood is rather good at that! I am not paid by YT (or anyone), so please like & subscribe. It helps keep the channel visible. Thank you & enjoy. (Lyrics below).
Come down off your throne and leave your body alone
Somebody must change
You are the reason I've been waiting so long
Somebody holds the key
Well I'm near the end and I just ain't got the time
And I'm wasted and I can't find my way home

Come down on your own and leave your body alone
Somebody must change
You are the reason I've been waiting all these years
Somebody holds the key
But I'm near the end and I just ain't got the time
And I'm wasted and I can't find my way home

But I can't find my way home x 3

Still I can't find my way home
And I ain't done nothing wrong
But I can't find my way home.

When I was in Vietnam they played this over AFR. The music of those times brings tears to my eyes, CCR, the Animals The Stones, Blind Faith. Although it’s been 52 years since I was in country, I can still hear the sounds and smell the dank odor of that horrible war. FMF Corpsman, 1st MED BN, 1st DIV USMC

When my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer he asked to hear this song. Played it over and over.. This song was playing when he finally found his way home ❤️

My husband was a great guitarist and songwriter. He played this all the time. Reminds me of my youth. Such great music and talent. My husband passed 6 years ago and I came across this. So beautiful.

My father turns 84 next week and he is the greatest Dad a kid could ever have. I was the middle of 7 kids and Dad formed special bonds with each of us. He and I connected through our love of music and he spoon-fed me a steady diet of the greatest rock and pop .... in a time when his contemporaries were old-farts stuck in the doo-wop era and listening to Frank Sinatra and Vic Damone. He was affectionate with all of us but especially so with shy and sensitive me. He was a night owl and stayed up late reading and listening to his music and I'd often sneak out of bed and snuggle on the couch with him, drifting off to sleep to great bands this, Traffic, Yes, The Who, and countless others.

I've been in recovery and free of alcohol and drugs for a year now. I remember listening to this song when I was so beat down, my family not talking to me, and thinking that I need help. I listen to it now and it makes me happy I made it out. Now I just live one day at a time. UPDATE: 4/2/22 Still going strong, three years and counting! Thanks for all the support! UPDATE: 7/14/23 Still on God's path, not my own! UPDATE: 4/4/24 Living life and healthy!

This is what music used to be.
We older folks lived thruogh those times. We were so lucky to be Boomers.

Getting ready to stop doing drugs again, its a lifetime struggle. I’ll be 65 tomorrow. This on my kicking playlist. Im gonna drive my van out to the west coast and sit there til the sickness stops. Come down off your throne and leave your body alone. Very artistic lyrics.

So good. I first heard at 16, still love it at 68. Meditative, soul touching. Nothing like it.

I know I keep saying this but... I am SO grateful for being raised by this music. Especially from the 60’s. I was just a kid, but music affected me deeply. Back then music was true and real. I remember us waiting for the next new “album” to come out and experiencing the whole thing. Not just a manufactured song. Yeah I may be “considered” old - 62, but I’m glad I’m this age! We had it so good. So grateful.

Thank you for posting this.

If anyone out there can write anything better than this, we'd all love to hear it. Winwood is the exact opposite of today's stars, he was more talented than famous.

Stevie Winwood was sixteen years old when he sang this lead. Timeless classic. Massive talent.
