I have had good years and bad years and learned along the way. At this new homestead, I want to make things different...bettter. I have a plan to get ahead, not just one season but 2.

Got about 13 Ash trees in a fence line l need to take out for my neighbor soon… Will be set for probably 4 or 5 years with those and the wood l got last year… It’s nice to be ahead …

Get some more ibc cages stack all your split wood in them and just move them over to the boiler as needed

You should really think about making a wood shed that holds 2 years worth of wood. Having a dry place to stack it really helps my mind want to get it done. I find that the best time to cut and split wood is the fall of the year prior to burning it. Nice crisp air helps me work harder and longer.

It sounds like a good plan. You might want to take down a couple of the smaller trees where you are going to stack it though.

I use wood in the winter, in my old cast iron stove. Wood is stored in a dry, covered, but windy place, in direct sunlight. The dryer the better. After a really hot summer, wood burns like hell, with almost white flames in that old stove. Two buckets of dry wood make 77°F in my little house.
