I've only "got to work" recently. I turn 30 this year and I too feel like I've wasted time, putting my livelihood in the hands of systems and corporations that would and have dispose of me without a second thought.

Always remember life is short and a lot of us won’t ever reach our full potential. That’s not an excuse though to not try to maximize our potential in whatever area we enjoy. However, people die everyday and we don’t know when our time is. With that being said, if one area doesn’t work out, utilize other skills that you have and work hard at that. Be grateful for what you have. It’s not good to overthink this in your mid 40s-50s either. Be happy with what you have done. Some people die when they’re 18-19 and never got a chance to blossom. When you think of the suffering others have encountered, you may realize that even though you couldn’t achieve your plan A dreams, you made the most with plan B and tried your best. This will humble you… most of all, don’t overthink it and just try your best ❤

Doesn't everyone feel like this? Does anyone accomplish everything they ever wanted to? everything they dreamed of? I agree with the point being made here, but i also think a lot of people have unrealistic expectations of themselves that are impossible to realistically fulfill and that can be just as big of a problem.

This was my situation recently. I'm 56, and had wanted to transition from regular employment to a more meaningful career. A heart attack at 45 provided the signal, but not the opportunity. COVID hit, but it was poor timing. Now, I'm just going to quit and let fate take me. It's a poor decision, from what everyone is telling me. Life is short, I tell them.

Ironically, the same attitude is hidden in plain sight when he "realized how much time he wasted" No time like the present to do what you desire to do whatever age you are. In the Western world, however, we subtly disallow certain activities at certain ages so our warped social norms are at least partially responsible for this. It can indeed at times be too late to do certain things but not because you aren't still capable of it but rather because it is frowned upon because of your age.
