My grandfather was a riveter at this plant on steam loco's. He came over from Poland around 1918.

I dont know why but i get a little sad knowing the old buildings and railyards that are forgotten about.

I grew up in Schenectady (1947-1978) My uncle worked at ALCO. Now that is all gone and rivers casino has been there for almost a year

alco lives on in India. alco based loco designs are the backbone of indian railways diesel hauled sections. sadly though, they are now less used with more lines getting electrified and facing heat from new gen emd lococ

STS steel has moved out and the new owners are building high end condos and a shopping mall on this site.there are plans to keep 1 of the front offices for a ALCO museum, but no money has been set aside for it
