I'm sure that the new Capture One Pro 7 will appeal to many types of photographers. I think this can indeed be a good replacement for programs like Lightroom. In some areas it even exceeds and goes beyond Lightroom. Keep up the good work guys. With discount or without, I might just convert to Capture One anyway. Thanks for offering us an alternative.

I think this is a good opportunity for Phase One to win those Windows Vista users over to Capture One. And not just because of the lack of Vista support in the new Lightroom 5, crossover or trade-in upgrades are a good way to win over customers from a competing company. This practice is common in the professional software segment (e.g. Cubase vs. Pro Tools) and even among AV software companies (e.g. Kaspersky vs. F-Secure).

I have been using it and it is just an amazing application, very good indeed.

I agree with Josh. Presentation of Calalog and Album features is very poor. I installed the upgrade this morning and, frankly, I cannot figure out on how to fit my 1000s photos into the catalogs and albums nor can I start using it as a new work flow. So I just keep on using the session feature as in version 6 !!! Hope to see some mor ein depth videos about these new and, I am sure, useful features.

Yeah, totally lost here. I tried the catalogue while on assignment in India and honestly I have no idea what is going on. Then I tried to bring in those photos that were saved in a date folder into sessions and can't figure that out. Now I'm doing the new work as session but I guess will have to wait to get back to NY for some hands on help!

How about some case studies on how you recommend using the Catalog feature? You glossed over it a bit too quickly. Im scratching my head how to fit my workflow into it.

Just got Capture One Express 7.1.5 and am trying to create a catalogue but I do not have the +-icon in the Library tool. And nothing under the file-menu?

Hello, I uploaded a photo in the program and want to edit, but I can not, because the icons are not working. What did I do wrong?

I just downloaded this but I cannot get started. I have a smaller SSD drive 60 G and images stored on a 4 T drive array. If I import these images into a catalog, then my C drive is filled up and the import stops. I think I can get around this problem by locating the catalog file on a different drive. However, there is no "+" sign in the Library menu (only a down arrow and a ? mark) and no new catalog option under File. I am stuck. I use C5 with no trouble but it does not require a catalog.

I know this is considered the industry standard for high end pros so I downloaded the free trial. I wasn't ready for how poor the UI was. Dang! 1987 called: They want their layout back. Such a bummer. Really makes it tough to want to wade through these tutorials. Please tell me the image quality trade offs are worth it, or I'll stick with LR5.

Do you guys at Phase One have any plan on offering a trade-in upgrade (aka crossgrade) for Lightroom users? I use Lightroom 4 and I just discovered that Lightroom 5 is not supported on Windows Vista. It requires Windows 7 or 8. I use Vista on my desktop and this is also where I use Lightroom. I was thinking about upgrading to Lightroom 5, but I will not do that now. I don't want to upgrade to Windows 7 just to use Lightroom 5.

There is also two more tutorials purely on Catalogs to watch. This is a general introduction to the whole software.

Wondering if I could get some help. I have been using C-1 since 3.0 after buying a P30. I am wondering if I am doing catalogue shoot or fashion shoot, What is the best way to shoot folders like. Shot 1 and have all the tethered images for shot 1 go to that folder, then Shot 2, have all the images for shot 2 go there and so on and so on? Do I make individual catalogues, sessions, albums or what?  I would appreciate some further information how to organize a days shoot with 10-30 different outfits and have each outfit (Clothing) in their own individual folder for tethering. I am not sure what is the best option for C-1 7.0? Make a catalogue or Sessions and individual albums for each look and are Album able to be set as tethered folders? You all should make a tutorial on this as I am sure I am not the only one that would like to know. Thanks in advance..

Hello - I downloaded the free version to test out whether or not it is worth purchasing, but for some reason, when I attempt to import photos, the bottom import options are missing and I cannot select "import" - Which is highly frustrating. Can any one give me some advice? Do I need to try and reinstall?

Is this software a joke? Downloaded a trial version (v7.2.2) just to find out you can not import raw files from my Panasonic GH4. I just could import JPG files. More than 200 Euros just to edit Jpeg Files??? Also tested the latest Lightroom 5.5 and had no problems. Is this software still developed?

I watched it several times but he moves along so quickly it's hard to grasp. I use Lightroom and DxO but I'm always looking for a better approach.
