Dolmas (stuffed vegetable) is a traditional Greek dish. Dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) are a common appetizer in any Greek restaurant. They can also be served as a cold dish or warm with avgolemono sauce (egg-lemon sauce), if desired.
A Mediterranean classic made vegeterian and gluten-free recipe, which includes fresh herbs like dill, mint or parsley, onion, olives and rice! A fantastic appetizer, side, or main dish! ... Dolmades may be stuffed additionally with meat, but I kept this vegeterian.
For those watching their weight, grape leaves are very low in calories -- about 14 calories for every 5 leaves. For general health and wellness, grape leaves are a good source of nutrients, including vitamins C, E, A, K and B6, plus niacin, iron, fiber, riboflavin, folate, calcium, magnesium, copper and manganese.
Trahana is a type of ancient wheat product or “pasta” that’s eaten in Greece and the eastern Mediterranean. There are two types: sweet trahana and sour trahana. Both are made with either semolina, cracked wheat, or flour. The difference between the two is pretty simple:
Sweet trahana is made with milk (usually sheeps’ or goats’ milk)
Sour trahana is made with soured milk and/or yogurt
Trahana is normally eaten in soups or as a porridge and It thickens as it cooks.
Bon Apettit!!
