Welcome to a series of Networking lectures by NG Networks! In this video, we will get an overview of Classful and Classless Routing protocol & how they differ from each other. Classful routing protocols are those protocols that don't carry the subnet mask information within the routing updates. Besides, all the devices in the network must use the same subnet mask like RIP V1. These routing protocols waste more address spaces whereas, Classless Routing Protocols are those protocols that include the subnet mask information when the routing tables or updates are exchanged. Classless routing protocols allow using the networks with different length of subnet masks. Hence, these routing protocols support the VLSM (Variable Length Subnet Mask) and CIDR (Classless Inter-Domain Routing)
