The Bhutanatha Temple Complex in Badami comprises of a bunch of sandstone temples, all dedicated to Lord Shiva. Situated on the Eastern side of the Agastya lake, it was built in the 7th century, and is one of the earliest examples of structural temples in South India.

On one side of the doorway of the shrine stands Goddess Ganga, riding the Makara or the crocodile, while on the other side is river Yamuna.
