SSc-ILD stands for Systemic Sclerosis Associated Interstitial Lung Disease. This lung condition leads to pulmonary fibrosis (lung scarring) and is caused by Systemic Sclerosis (or SSc). Systemic sclerosis is an autoimmune condition that leads to inflammation, thinkening and hardening of the skin and other tissues of the body, including the lungs in some instances.
Generally it is treated with antiinflammatory agents (typically prescribed by a Rheumatologist) and if there is lung fibrosis present, this may require additional antifibrotic therapy (to slow down the lung decline).

My ct scan shows I have upper lobe scarring like sarcoidosis fibrosis...

Hi, Doc! I recently had a scare about my lungs. Thought it might be PF, but the CT scan showed it is not! My main doctor said he believes it is just inflammation in my lower left lung lobe. There is some scarring, but he does not project it to be anything serious. He is, however, referring me to a pulmonologist for a second opinion, just to be sure. Can this inflammation be cleared up with medication? Is some scarring, okay? He did say I wasn't getting enough air in my left lung when he listened to me taking deep breaths. I assume it is because of the inflammation.
