Honda Accord - Front ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement - 2008-2017

ABS, VSA, and BRAKE lights on? Read your codes abs you will find multiple issues from wheel speed sensor to ABS module low voltage. But start by checking the wheel speed sensors. They have a wire that becomes brittle and causes all these codes. Since the sensor is like $12 on Amazon it’s a quick simple fix and will most likely get rid of all your codes and lights as those other symptoms are all a result of this one small issue. This video shows how I replaced the Front Left ABS Wheel Speed Sensor on a 2009 Honda Accord EX, which has the same ABS Wheel Speed Sensor as all 2008-2017 8th & 9th generations Honda Accords. Replace which ever side or sides the codes tell you are bad. Use a code reader or just have the codes read at Autozone. Don't address any ABS codes other than these sensors until you fix the sensors. Often the other ABS Module codes will be resolved by fixing the damaged/disconnected sensor.

Although the work performed in the video was specifically on a 2009 Accord EX Sedan, yours will be very similar.

spent $900.00 on having a shop replace both front sensors and 2 weeks later my lights came back on. Should have tackled this job myself and saved my money. Thank you for this video.

Thank you! I just put a replacement ABS on after my mechanic friend replaced the wheel bearing complete hub assembly. Your video was so helpful in allowing me to do it myself. Also, I would def. take the wheel off in order to get the ABS cable strung around properly, tightly getting it into the various groove/holder spots.

Plugged my $80 Amazon scan tool in and it immediately told me the code and pointed me towards this fix. Problem solved for $50 (price of the part) 👍🏼

If anyone needs to do this, just take your vehicle to a shop and don’t waste your time trying this on your own. The sensor will most likely be rusted into the knuckle and you will have to disassemble the entire knuckle to drill it out. 3 hours into this “simple” replacement and it’s just not worth the time or effort
