Here's a quick update on what is happening with the Honda EF CRX build.

We're ripping out the old EMtron ECU and replacing it with....another EMtron ECU. The EMtron SL4 ECU did exactly what was asked of it and there is nothing wrong with it, but the more featured KV8 model gives us the ability to run a drive by wire (DBW) throttle as well as some flexibility in our Lambda/AFR sensor setup for the future.

Currently, the K20 swapped CRX is undergoing some repairs and strengthening to combat some of the cracks and tears we found in the body and chassis, in particular the front cross member. As all fabricators know weight vs strength is a constant battle and with the 255whp K swap in there now already tearing the car to pieces, it makes sense to not just fix but future proof the chassis in general let alone for the fact we hope to make a little more power from another build in the future.

The gearbox has also been problematic to the point the expense of a Holinger is actually looking like a 'cheap' investment. We have been very happy with the Holinger in the SR86 so far which was a heavy influence on this decision. Gear ratios are also something we can tinker with further here although that was one area the previous gearbox setup wasn't entirely lacking in.

Also up for improvement is a less sexy item, the clutch. Often overlooked as an improved clutch setup isn't going to give you any dyno bragging rights, if you're into such things, but it will help you pass others on the track regardless when you get it right.

Ok, so I'm a VIP member. Paid full price! If you're interested in learning Motorsports engineering. Start and finish here. I have learned a ton. I've built my first motor, made wiring harnesses, but have yet to tune or weld but it's all in HP Academy.❤

And the K series build chapters will be essential to my next two builds NSX and Cayman 😮.

We have a 280hp k20 ef9 civic tarmac rally car 🇮🇪 i have an incar or 2 up on my channel from years ago when we first built it 😊 the engine was built by buddyclub over in England 🤙💯

Cool. Hope we gey to see the results of the extra injectors. I'm pretty sure several of the drag racers in the US has tried it (yet no one is using it). If you're doing it i think you should try injectors with different spray patterns (and maybe different sizes also) to see what works best.

Would you run this without a filter then? Or would the injectors be housed inside a large plenum with a large filter off to the side?

Finally, building a real race car, tbh bang for buck these K series 90s Hondas are epic level performance, if you ever decide to really kill everything, rotrex supercharge it, speak to BYP in Aus they build some incredible Hondas that clean up far more expensive builds...
