I'm so tired of the bar being lowered in careers where people's LIVES are at stake, who would you rather have come save you, a man who can lift your body weight, or a woman who struggles with their own

As a firefighter in alberta some of my friends are going into this, risking their lives to help these people, no one was told how these fires were started, they are hiding it even from us, just found out by watching this video, thank you Brett

The worst part is you know none of those people will take a step back after this and think, “maybe I was wrong on this issue”

Is it really horrible that I find it awesome that the men had to come save them?

As a male firefighter, I can promise you that the scariest thing to me I s going into a structural fire buddied with a female firefighter because I know if the proverbial hits the fan I’m dead as she will not be able to pull me to safety. Not only do they lack the brute strength but also the stamina. Both are essential for firefighting, it’s no joke, it’s extremely physically demanding even for big, fit, strong guys. None of this can ever be talked about within the service of course! Ironically you’d probably get sacked.

My grade 8 teacher told us she removed herself from a firefighting career because she realized that she was only being push forward because she was a woman. She did not feel she could safely continue in the field because of the physical demand. From Alberta, Canada.

If 35 women could mess up this much, I hate to imagine what a female only firefighters can do. SKY is the limit.

I live in Edmonton and my grandpa who’s a firefighter is pissed off at these women.

Imagine dying in a fire because it was more important to "represent women" than to have someone who could actually knock down that door and carry you out.

I'm a female firefighter. When I got on a there were only a few female firefighters and they got on because they could give any man a run for his money (rugby hall of famer, mechanical/spatial genius of a blind ikea cabinet builder...you get the idea). It was easy to gain respect because the assumption was that if you got on you must have had something that the department needed since it was extremely difficult for anyone to get on. Now that departments like Toronto want half their department to be a visible minority, which includes females, but you have something like 2% that apply that are female, well if you're a woman it's assumed you got on as a diversity hire...and understandably so! It's done a great disservice though to those women who earned their way in during the days of true meritocracy. And it's watered down the quality of the department when subpar women are taking the place of more qualified white males. All a little unfortunate really.

There was a case in Spain about gender equality in the workplace.
Now granted, this was regarding a police department and not a fire brigade.
Basically, there was a YouTuber who wanted to join a local PD, but didn’t pass the physical exam.
Now here’s the kicker: there was one exam for men, another one for women.
He did not pass the men’s exam, but could pass the women’s exam.
He therefore raised the question, why have two different tests for men and women, where the threshold was lower for the women?
Because if the women needed to pass a much easier test, it meant that that was the minimum effort required to do your job effectively, therefore making the higher threshold for men unnecessary, but if what was needed was the physical strength of the men’s test, that meant that women would be underperforming on the field and putting themselves and others in danger.
Now imagine if that happened in a fire brigade.
This is why there are male dominated jobs.

The strong capable women are too busy actually doing work, being strong and capable, to waste time proving that they are strong and capable. And they are fully accepted everywhere.

Those ladies were given a job above their skill level.

This is a perfect representation of what "diversity" and "inclusion" has done to western countries. Absolutely perfect.

So I live in Alberta... and I am ashamed for these women thinking this was a good idea AND for the higher ups allowing it to follow through

As a female fireman, I agree with you! So many non qaulified applicants, are being allowed due to political points. Woman not passing have been so bad they have dropped the CPAT from the application part of entry. It is such an embarrassment, to all who actually do the work.

There was a case somewhere in the US (I cant remember where at) where a female applicant for a firefighting job was not hired because she could not complete one of the tasks required, which was to carry an 'unconscious' 200lb man down a flight of stairs. When she was told that was why she wasnt hired, she sued and the court forced the station to take that off the requirements and hire her. !! Im not 'misogynist' at all, and am all for equal opportunities, but there are men who could not do that, either, and they shouldnt be working at a job they cannot physically perform.
