It's always so satisfying when you have extra time to do the care you feel like you're supposed to be doing anyway.

My mom has Alzheimers and after a nice shower she will see herself in the mirror and says you are just gorgeous my queen... she thinks it's her oldest sister.

My mom is a nurse and she’d do the nails of hospitalized women (and some men) when she took care of them. She kept her patients looking fly

The confused glance down at the "I feel bonita" is hysterical and precious.

The aids where I work do our residents hair like they are in 90s pop music videos.. it's marvelous

When I was a tech, I was on a covid floor and bathed a 36 year old woman who was sick as shit on BiPAP. I combed so many mats out of her hair. It totally transformed her demeanor, she said she felt like a new person. She ended up getting voluntarily intubated the next morning. I was sad but I was so glad knowing she went to ICU nice and clean. She ended up coming back to us and after a couple weeks and went home healthy to her husband and kids. I nearly cried. She was so sick she didn't even remember me bathing her and I didn't mention it, but that made me so happy

Something most people don't realize is that having someone to bathe you after years of independence is traumatic... Having a great nurse, CNA or caregiver that gives good, soothing and thorough baths making the client comfortable are hard to come by ❣️ I love your videos

I remember this one sweet lady who I did a thorough foot wash and massage for during my CNA training 5 years ago. She loved it so much and joked that her feet felt so good that she could probably get up and dance now (she was wheelchair bound). I still think about her every now and then, I hope shes still doing well 😊

my patient had anemia and was so cold all the time. i took the time to grab hot water from the nutrition room along with the hot water from the sink. i also moistures his skin and combed his hair and mustache. i made his bed with two sheets and two blankets too. the next day when i came in to see him, he said he had the best sleep in his entire time there because he was so relaxed 🥺

I loved it when I had the extra time to blow dry and curl my residents hair, it was a bonus if they had some make up. They may not remember who you are, but they always remember how you made them feel.

As an ER tech many moons ago, we had an unfortunate fellow come in who was on the other end of a really challenging psychiatric experience and had poop in various stages of drying all the way down from the end of their heels to the tippy top of their afro. Adrian and I started with him in the decon shower and 45 minutes later finished with having him in clean clothes, Tucked into bed. As a bald white dude, I didn't know much about afro maintenance but Adrian did and she fixed him up. It was so satisfying to see his head resting our pillow in a bed of clean white sheets❣️ There's a lot of cool whiz bang stuff in healthcare, but really having time to take care of the basics is so satisfying. Florence Nightingale would be proud

I have been a nurse for 10 years. Before that I was a nurses aid for 3 years while I went to school… I miss my job as an aid.

My grandmother when she was in the hospital and with the dementia, got a bathed by a male nurse then slapped the top of her pelvis and said "Do you know what this is good for now?" The nurse just laughed it off but I was mortified...

I love when I have the time to really make the patients feel good with a bath/wash, not just scrub them to achieve the necessary minimum of cleanliness. A lot of people thank you for taking care of them, and it really helps the healing process imo. Sadly that time is not always there, and a lot of my coworkers don't seem to want to make that effort

lol OMG getting my residents with dementia up in the morning was one of my favorite things to do when I was a nursing assistant. They had so many stylish vintage clothes that they never wore because they took too much time to put on. But when I had the time the unit looked like a fashion spread! 😂❤

Just wanted to put here that after my first baby I was physically wrecked, 2 hours of pushing and when it came time to try to get out of bed it was determined I was not currently capable of doing so. Also my baby went to NICU so I was all alone, covered in blood and guts and scared for my baby. The nurse/nurse aid who sponge bathed me was the person who made me feel human in that moment. I felt like I was nothing, just a mess of pain and blood, and her demeanor and tone of voice somehow just made me feel like I was a person as she was cleaning me. Maybe it's just because I'd never been bathed before, but it really felt like that person was the only one in my corner. I wish I thanked her more.

Shout out to the one sweet lady that worked at the psych ward I went to over my 18th birthday, she French braided my hair and made me feel beautiful!

When I was recovering in a hospital from alcoholism the nicest nurse ever came in and helped me shower one morning. I mean I could barely walk and probably looked terrible. It maybe saved my life. I broke down crying thanking her. Just taking the time to show me she cared about me. Gave me a whole new demeanor.

I just watched this episode of Family Guy yesterday!!! Chris has Brian in a dress and he is altering it. However, during the alterations, Brian finds out that Stewie is going to Vermont to scatter the ashes of Rupert....of whom he cremated after Brian chewed him up. Chris wouldn't let Brian go until he gave the opinion that he felt beautiful in the dress Chris had just altered. LOL!!!!
