I read Love and Other Words and Funny Story because of you and I loved both so much. I recently read Between Friends and Lovers by Shirlene Obuobi and its a well written quality romance! I highly recommend, and it’s also by a black author ☺️

I've only 5-starred one book this year, and it was Just for the Summer. I'm with you about feeling called out on the unhealthy coping mechanisms. It made me cry many, many times.

Romance is not one of my favorite genres, so it was so very surprising for me to find the kind of story that was being told, in this book. I don't know that I can expect the same level of care from other Abby Jimenez books...we'll see. I've never read any others from her and I'm hesitant to try because this one was just so so fantastic in ways that had absolutely NOTHING to do with romance.

Most of these are on my tbr so🤞🏽 for 2025…loved Funny Story and Seven Year Slip this year. My other faves were Seven Days in June, The Wedding people, Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, and The Girl He Used to Know!! 🎉

2. The Five Friends Battle Against Aliens ( A Sci fi adventure story for teen agers and older people, Won Suenes Award for International Childrens Books in Young Adult Category, is being translated into Spanish )
3. The Americans and Indians Defend the Earth ( is being translated into Spanish, French, Indonesian, Chinese and Russian)
4. Pathways to Success and Excellence (A collection of true stories, won Golden Book Certificate in the non fiction category at Pune)
5. 18 Tales of Romance, Adventure, Suspense and Humor ( a collection of 18 fictional stories , won Emerging Author of 2024 Award at Kolkata Literary Carnival, has been translated and printed in Spanish, French and Chinese for the International market )
