This is How You Know if Your Frontal Lobe is Developed #brain. The frontal lobe, a key region of the brain located at the front of the cerebral cortex, plays a critical role in numerous cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functions essential for human behavior and decision-making. Its intricate network of neural circuits and connections enables a wide range of complex mental processes, including: Executive Functions: Perhaps the most well-known function of the frontal lobe, executive functions encompass a set of higher-order cognitive abilities that facilitate goal-directed behavior, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making. This includes tasks such as reasoning, abstract thinking, working memory, and cognitive flexibility. Motor Function: The primary motor cortex, located within the frontal lobe, is responsible for the initiation and control of voluntary movements throughout the body. This region coordinates motor commands and fine-tunes movement patterns, allowing for precise and coordinated actions. Speech Production: Broca's area, located in the left hemisphere of the frontal lobe, plays a crucial role in the production of speech and language. Damage to this area can result in expressive aphasia, characterized by difficulties in articulating words and forming coherent sentences. Personality and Social Behavior: The frontal lobe is involved in regulating personality traits, emotions, and social behavior. It helps individuals inhibit impulsive actions, control emotional responses, and regulate social interactions. Damage to certain areas of the frontal lobe can lead to alterations in personality, emotional instability, and impaired social judgment. #psychology #psychologyfacts

Neurodivergence can definitely affect these statistics though.

When I started elementary school, I was dubbed a child prodigy, being able to read and write correctly, solve math problems and draw well just at the age of 7. My IQ was well above the average for my age. My biggest dream was to become a scientist.

I had a good memory, was well organized and learned fast so I was praised a lot by teachers and my classmates hated me for it. Eventually, my brain got destroyed by intense school bullying and violence.

Today I am 26 years old. I am diagnosed with OCD and severe MDD. I am resistant to antidepressants and doctors think I have developed ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome).

I never reached college, I'm constantly tired and my cognitive skills have dropped so severely that I have lost most of my english (not my native language) skills and I'm slow to form correct sentences in english as well as my own native language.

My dreams are crushed. Last year I discovered that I can't take care of myself anymore and I lost my job. My My brain is at it's end. I expect to develop dementia before 40, if I even live that long.

I wish people would stop spreading this myth that your frontal lobe suddenly becomes fully developed at around age 25. The truth is that it is *mostly* developed by the age of 25 but there's just a little bit left to go. It's a slow, continuous process, not a sudden process.

I’m 26 and I feel just as undeveloped as a 13 year old, depression has taken half my life from me

As a 40yo with ADHD, childhood trauma, and adult CPTSD…. When will my frontal lobe start lobing? 🥺🤯

I’m on the autistic spectrum but I genuinely feel like I’ve grown up properly despite the setbacks and trauma. I feel very grateful and lucky for that, obviously I still have traits like the need for stimming, quick overstimulation, etc, but I feel genuinely wiser than before.

But I realise that is simply luck on my part, because a lot of my neurodivergent peers are still struggling with things that I’ve gotten good at. Everybody’s different.

It’s awesome to see everyone get better at certain things, though, even if they need their own pace.

I was fully excited about finally being 25 until the ADHD part

Y’know, one of the things I’ve genuinely gotten good at isn’t just guarding my boundaries, but also knowing exactly where they are and being OK with it.

I have come to the conclusion that someone forgot to install my frontal lobe

As a millennial 30 yr old that still gets ID'd constantly, I can confirm my frontal lobe has not developed and never will until I begin the aging process at 60

CONTROL OF EMOTIONS, I have noticed this happens at age 25 over the years of dealing with people. Under 25 they are far more likely to have a temper outburst when someone disagrees or they can’t get what they want THAT MINUTE, but one day around the age of 25 they can deal with situations calmly. It’s like a switch gets flipped and suddenly they are normal adults.

“Certain things like trauma during childhood or ADHD can hinder this process.”

I was all happy about this till he said that.

Me casually waiting to hit 25 so that I can finally control my emotions and choose how to react, study and carry out tasks without distraction/procrastination, plan out my day and stick to it, have a strong memory and attention span dissimilar to that of a goldfish, but my childhood trauma saying SIKE-💅💅😭😭

When I was 23 I just like felt the change. I just suddenly started thinking and reviewing my past differently. I still cry whenever any emotion is too strong, my memory is still trash, and I definitely can’t keep a schedule but that’s more adhd. It really does just feel *different*

Mine developed at 12. I held down my routine, was able to weigh risk and benefit like a champ, and did all my work without distractions
